Re: Service records F45

Odd that you cannot get the service record on the screen.

As per instructions on page 95 of Owners Handbook, I clicked on Service History and there it is - serviced by BMW on the 11th July and the mileage (in km). Also I clicked on Engine Oil and it states that an oil service has been done.

Re: LCI details

A sales person at Oxford BMW told me today that they have not seen a facelifted Active Tourer or Gran Tourer and BMW are not currently taking orders from them for the AT. Orders have just been accepted for Gran Tourer with a December delivery date. There was a comment that supply varies according to...

Re: Service records F45

Should have said that the service info is on iDrive.

Re: Service records F45

Service books are no longer supplied with new cars. If you want a service book, BMW dealers can get one but they ask a lot of money!! I had the first service on my AT today. A long time was spent whilst the workshop downloaded revised iDrive software because of a BMW recall for my 2016 model. The se...

Re: Voice control

The Navigation Plus Package was £1400 including head-up display.

A tip, and apologies if you already know this, it is possible to find the build sheet for your car which lists all the bits and bobs. Search for BMW Vin Decoder and put in the last digits of the Vin. Up it comes.

Re: Voice control

Had a think. The voice control may only work when the so-called Professional Satnav is fitted.

Re: Voice control

I have the steering wheel voice button on my recent 218i. I cannot get it to respond. A fellow from the BMW workshop had a word with me. He said something vague along the lines of it only works if the right package(s) were specified when ordering the car, or something to that effect. I wonder why th...

Re: How to spec the Active Tourer?

I chose for my recent but pre-facelift 218i in addition to one or two packages: autobox (excellent and reliable torque converter type but now changed to dual clutch type!! rear view camera for reversing (excellent and essential); electric folding mirrors; spare wheel and jack (bargain for £75); blac...

Re: Wing mirrors

The previous reply is a bit muddled on door mirrors. You should have ordered either factory option 313 - electric folding exterior mirrors for £190, or option 430 - exterior mirrors folding, automatically dimming for £420.

Re: LCI details

I agree with all you write. But the biggest change the article reveals, is the arrival in the BMW AT, as forecast recently by Honest John, of a 7-speed dual-clutch autobox to replace the ever reliable 6 speed torque converter box. Is it wet clutch or dry clutch? Time will tell The Honest John news a...

Re: Mud Flaps?

I fitted front and rear mud flaps to my AT. Should help a bit to reduce muck on the tailgate but the way I use my car (mostly dry roads) means I am not sure. The front flaps certainly protect the sills. Bought flaps from BMW dealer - fitting instructions are essential but are NOT supplied! I persuad...

Re: Buying a new F45

My first post. I recently took delivery of a factory order 218i auto and so beat the tax increase. Contrary to what you write, the 218i is a popular choice and in SE spec strongly recommended - see Daily Telegraph's Honest John. SE spec comes with 16" wheels and large profile tyres for a smooth ride...
