Re: My thoughts on the comp

Interesting thoughts. I did think about the M2 Comp but my money is now going to something from Stuttgart when I do decide to change my M2.

Re: Seat bolsters

I may be wrong but I don't think the side bolsters are part of the memory seats on the M2 (pre LCI anyway) as the bolsters do not change between my wife's driving position and mine and she is a lot smaller than I am. We also use separate keys. If they are part of the memory function then mine don't ...

Puncture

Believe it or not I did 75,000 miles on my 2005 R1 in 4 1/2 years and it never let me down. It was a great bit of kit for commuting, quick, narrow and I could filter past anything. However, I don’t commute any longer, I now let the train take the strain. The new S1000RR looks amazing. I’ve always li...

Re: Puncture

I used to commute into the City of London on a Yamaha R1 and the amount of punctures I used to get was astonishing. The guys I used also said that three repairs is all they would do on a tyre regardless of how worn or not it was. I once went through a new rear tyre on the R1 in two months due to the...

Re: M2 to M2 Comp would you?

I won't be changing and I'll definitely be keeping my OGM2 for a good while.

Re: New car advice

The CTR is a great car, if you like the looks, but a Cayman would be much more special.. (or maybe even a 911) I think Porsche ownership is probably a little out of his reach at the moment. He really liked the CTR but it is a lot of money. He's got a lot to think about and still a few more cars to ...

Re: New car advice

Well the test drive with the M140i didn't go too well. We arrived at the dealership at 10.35 for a 10.30 appointment, we were late due to an accident on the way and we were stuck in the traffic for a while. I didn't call them as I didn't think being 5 minutes late would be a problem. When we arrived...

Re: New car advice

Tigg, bless you. I’ve done ok had some great cars. I also live for today and not tomorrow as I’ve seen too much loss in my life and I think my son is of the same opinion ;)

Re: New car advice

Lots of sound advice which I appreciate but also lots of responses talking about getting him to save for a house. We were looking for advice on cars, not how to save for a house. That sort of advice I can give him working in Asset Management and I can suggest suitable funds for him to invest in shou...

Re: New car advice

It does seem really strange to me that people in their low twenties in age even consider getting performance/ expensive cars until they are much more set up in life. I had a very very boring car history until I bought my first flat and only then bought a 14 plate m135i second hand. Whatever he does...

Re: New car advice

Golf R and S3 are just absolutely fantastic cars but not the sort of car I would itch to get in and drive. My brother has a Golf R, and although I only experienced it as a passenger, I found it a bit sterile if that makes sense. Great car I dare say, but just felt weirdly 'sensible' to me when insi...

Re: New car advice

Chaps, no offence taken and some great advice and responses from all who've replied. I know for a fact if my son couldn't handle a powerful car I'd be very much discouraging him from buying one.

Re: New car advice

BMcG, I think he has a very heavy right foot ;). The one saving grace is, he has the van for work so only uses his own car for pleasure.

Dean, he has considered the new Honda Type R and we're seeing one on Saturday.

Re: New car advice

Given the lad can afford to insure an ST with power mods I wouldn't question the ability to afford the insurance etc of a stock M140i. I would question the fact his dad has to make a forum post for him though... Good point, however, he doesn't do forums as he is not a keyboard warrior and does not ...
