Re: Amazed at the diference new rubber made

I'd have to guess on life of the tyres. I rotate the tyres, and have six wheels, so two spares to shuffle and keep wear balanced. And when the shoulder wear gets excessive I get the tyres rotated on the rim, again to extend thier life. At a guess I reckon three trackdays, rotate on rim and another t...

Amazed at the diference new rubber made

Hi all, I was at Rockingham yesterday, and had a pair of still legal but almost on the wear indicators tyres on the back. The plan was to get a final half day out of them and fit new rubber for the afternoon. Tyres are Yoko AD08R 235r all round by the way. It was bone dry, warmish, and I thought the...

Re: Shed base - any builders out there?

Thanks for the advice. Been looking at other sources as well and the plan is to do a sub base of mot1 and use an on site mixer to wet mix concrete for the top layer for the cabin. Greenhouse will sit on a rectangle of small kerb stones that will sit on a wet concrete layer that will allow me to gent...

Re: Shed base - any builders out there?

Thanks guys, food for thought. Was leaning towards the plastic base as even the cabin suppliers are recommending that. But suspect this may be a marketing ploy to make the sale of a cabin easier by implying easier implementation. Problem I have with concrete is access. I can' t get a lorry within 50...

Shed base - any builders out there?

Am about to put in a log cabin and a green house. Where they are going was laid with paving slabs I guess 30 or 40 years ago, and some of the slabs have been pushed up an inch or two with large trees growing close by. We are just taking out the last two trees today, so don't expect continued movemen...

Re: Flames from exhaust

When I was a lad.... I had a Merc 306d van to carry my motocross race bikes around. The van drank oil after a rebuild. Started, ran and performed fine, but drank oil at the rate of around a pint every hundred miles. I kid you not, but living on a farm I had access to oil in forty gallon drums so tha...

Re: m140/m240 anti roll/sway bars

I was looking at my rear ARB yesterday, looks like the bar could be threaded through by dropping the subframe a bit. No idea about the front. Not sure if that would help enormously though, is it not the engine weight high up that is the biggest issue, and a stiffer front ARB would help?

Re: Looking for more bass on HK system

I upgraded a mid level system in my e93, using an alpine retrofit kit - but left the standard subs under the seat. They were utterly transformed by adding a dedicated amp. The bass was much better in that set up than in my f20 with HK. The rest of the range, the HK is better. What I need to know is ...

Re: 1 new tyre? 2 new tyres? 4 new tyres?

Scottish blood in me... I would change one. Difference in circumference with what you would then have across the axle would be about 1%. Even with an LSD I would think that would be acceptable. Without an LSD, what are you worried about? I'd be more wary of an imbalance at the front which takes most...

Data capture from cars for Big Brother

I was on a corporate day at Jaguar sollihul usual stuff seeing production process end to end on fpace / velar which to be fair was impressive. After we had one of brand guys present and he was outlining how they now have to look to monetise data from car (as lower profit from electric cars due to r...
