Re: Great Pragmatic Service

Glad they worked for you, unfortunately not the service I received from them when I requested a quote.

Re: Home stereos / surround systems

I miss using my separates now. Due to 'modern tech' being so small etc all my stuff got relegated to the spare room as the missus didn't want the 'clutter' in the house. I still have my NAD 3130 amp along with a pair of Mordaunt Short MS 3.2 speakers from late 80's/early 90's. Still sounds great (I ...

Re: M 240.. Can't get Launch Control to work

I just figured if it was reasonably mechanically sympathetic It's very design is to put maximum torque through the drivetrain, which is possibly the least sympathetic thing you can do. However I agree that a car like this is not designed to be driven like a nanny, and I still can't help flooring it...

Re: Is it sensible to buy a 5dr M135i with a new baby on the way?

I don't see a problem with the size of the 1 series.

The real problem is cars have become behemoths these days, so a 'normal' car appears small.

Will probably have to have the odd concession and may need to change in a few years if you have a second etc, but fine for the next few years.

Re: Stone chip touch up

Anybody seen and watched these Dr colourchip kits? seem very impressive and more idiot proof than normal touch up...And gets good reviews... Like I say in my earlier post, I bought a Chipex kit which is essentially the same - basically a paint blended to be used with a car paint safe solvent. Apply...

Re: Stone chip touch up

Blob it on, flat it back with soapy 3000 grade wet and dry. Never been that brave to try that! I just see in my head making a mess of it  I was like that the first time, but it does work well and comes up nice. Make sure you use plenty of soapy water for lubrication, and use something firm and...

Re: Torque Pro App

Anybody tried this app on Android? I'm guessing it's not going to be massively accurate specially with the 0-60 and 1/4 mile etc but thinking of trying it, What's everyones thoughts on it who have it? Had it for years, it's a very polished app and has worked flawlessly in all the cars I've used it ...

Re: Stone chip touch up

For really fine chips I've even found a cocktail stick works well as you can be really accurate with pin point drops of paint.

Re: Stone chip touch up

Depends on size of the chip I guess. I had one on the wing that wasn't large in diameter but took the paint to the metal. I spent an hour or two on a nice warm day (luckily in summer) building up the touch-up paint to the point I could sand it back and then polish out. Result looks pretty good and I...

Re: oil filter break up

Yeah it's definitely worrying for the long term health of the engine. Another issue with such long service intervals maybe? I've never been comfortable with the idea of 2 year odd interval. I'd be worried not only of unfiltered oil but fragments of the filter getting into galleries and blocking smal...

Re: Remap or custome exhaust ??

At that price assume it's just an off the shelf map with no other mods. Have you done anything else to the car. Not an expert at all on these cars but in my experience usually to complement a map you should be making other mods for the tune to work properly, a basic would be airfilter/box etc to all...

Re: Where do i stand

The problem the dealer has is he he now has a pre reg for sale rather than a new unreg car. In effect that makes them a few grand in the hole. If they are lucky. If it rolls over into the next reg plate year it will drop quite a lot again. I bought mine pre-reg after the plates changed and got abou...
