Why are you moving it on? I see you've only had it a few months.
Always worry when people do this, could be legit reasons of course - is this the car that had the turbo replaced and damage to the rear?

Re: recommended paint

Any VHT paint should be fine, it's more the surface prep that's important as with any painting. Plenty of wire brush style action to get rid of surface rust and de-greasing and spraying with brake cleaner. Not in this application but I've had good results using Simoniz paints and they do a VHT in si...

Re: Van speed limits - can someone put my mind at rest?

No worries, like I say, it genuinely wasn't a post to be a nob, just always interests me that it's easier to simply look it up, but I do get the fact that sometimes you want real people to back it up 8)

Re: Extending warranty with mods

3rd party is definitely the way to go if you want to keep any mods.

My mate has his RS7on a 3rd party warranty and had some work done no problem even though it's fully remapped etc.

Re: Van speed limits - can someone put my mind at rest?

I found that website earlier but no mention of 3.5Tn so I kept my head down as it's not a subject I know anything about. Yeah the 3.5 tonne isn't given a specific category, there's another link to the van classifications, it's basically anything under 7.5 tonnes: https://www.gov.uk/government/publi...

Re: Van speed limits - can someone put my mind at rest?

Not being funny but why do people come on the internet to ask questions like these, when it's easier and quicker to simply look up the actual answer, ask on a forum that could still give wrong answers?

Re: Is this normal for a 10 month old car ?

I think the comments on "typical quality" etc are missing the point. These aren't stainless steel and are perfectly normal for pretty much all cars. The shape of the alloys simply makes it more noticeable. They have a tough old life, especially in winter and as such you will get light surface rust o...

Re: Anyone else running a pedal box (sprint booster)

Any mod you put on the car could be argued as a waste of money from different perspectives.

E.g. people pay good money for different wheels when there's arguably nothing wrong with the stock ones (they go round the same as other wheels), they just want to look different. Each to their own.

Re: Quality of M140i interior

Having come from a Ford, the quality of these cars is league's ahead. I understand they're not what they once were, but still a decent put together motor. 21k miles in and mine is still sold with no rattles or problems. Actually, probably only thing I'd gripe about is the steering wheel going a bit ...

Re: Anyone else running a pedal box (sprint booster)

My bro has one on his Golf R and said it transforms the car. At the end of the day moving into Sport mode does it to so we already have a subtle version as it makes the throttle slightly more responsive. Eco Pro mode sends it the complete opposite, but again, basically doing the same thing. Can make...

Re: The screenwash conundrum...

I work in healthcare. In lab and some clinical environments it necessary to use sanitising agents that leave no residue and, of course, are effective at killing all manner of bugs. Consequently the use of alcohols is very common. I used to work in labs back in the 90's. In winter we'd 'aquire' some...

Re: What is a good battery voltage?

Yeah it's the best way. As I say above a battery that appears ok can still lack the cranking amps.

Put a voltmeter on the terminals and fire the engine. It shouldn't drop below around 10-11 ish. A lot less and it's probably shot.

Re: How will the value of the older M135i fare once the new 4 cylinder versions are released?

You mean 'when' not 'if' petrol runs out. What people miss with electric cars is they will actually save the combustion engine. If we move over ASAP, then oil reserves will be able to be prolonged for a massive length of time and allow older cars to be run for longer. We'll also be able to produce b...

Re: How will the value of the older M135i fare once the new 4 cylinder versions are released?

However even I'm not sure about the last point :). A thug's-chariot pop'n'bang slot car is extremely quick but I get the same feedback driving a SIM with one of those hydraulically powered seats. There is no emotion in it. A Tesla Model 3 will lap a circuit faster than Jim Clark's old Lotus... but ...

Re: The screenwash conundrum...

I agree completely with MP about the mixing of solutions being rubbish and it's the concentration. I personally use BMW screenwash though as I erred on the side of caution initially, but found it is actually a really good screenwash anyway. Also I buy it from eBay for around £16 for 5 litres, which ...
