Re: Washer fluid level already low

Make sure you use BMW fluid, other stuff lumps up and causes blockages. Oh blimey, lets not go there again. Tons of back and forth on this. If you mean mixing BMW and other brands causes lumping up it's been shown to be a myth*, the blockages are caused by microbes growing in it (the black biofilms...

Re: Washer fluid level already low

Fill it back up and see how long it lasts this time round as you'll know it's a properly full tank. Check for puddles under the car after it's been standing a while if it bothers you and maybe use the spray with the car stationary to make sure a hose isn't leaking in the engine bay when it's pressur...

Re: MOT time

I just got my first service done at the local dealer and all went well.

That said, it was more because it needed the brake fluid changing as well, and they do the MOT inspection for the 1st one, after this I'll probably just use my local indy garage.

Re: Car Security

I have a Ghost fitted and it's great. I transferred it from my previous car which I had mapped myself and it's fine. You can't carry out the remap while it's active, but you simply put it in service mode and it just sits dormant without interfering with anything and the remap is then fine. On BMW's ...

Re: Visible Security

Only concern is BMW warranty with the ghost. Whatever makes you sleep easier is worth doing in my opinion! I've had a Ghost on mine since I bought it (had it transferred from my previous car) and BMW have been fine with it. It's fairly commonplace to have them fitted now and as long as you put it i...

Re: Best Way To Deal With..

I've not been on a speed awareness course for 20 years (makes me feel old) but this question came up even back then. As above, the "official" guidance was to ease off the throttle (not brake check) and increase your braking distance so that if an emergency braking situation comes up you should be ab...

Re: Visible Security

I disagree that it wont be a target, a simple google and WhatCar shows the most stolen car in the UK for 2020 is the Ford Fiesta, with the Golf and Focus coming in 3rd and 4th and even the humble Astra in 6th, so not exactly 'luxury cars'. Thieves will simply target cars that are easy money with a q...

Re: Leaving MP3 plugged into USB... ( battery )

Or am I fooled, and is it a case that when I unlock the car, it awakens the USB port and activates the MP3 player? Yep. The USB's stay active for a few minutes after you lock the car but then all shut down. When you unlock they all fire up again. I don't think there's any particular ones that do st...

Re: Question... Turbocharger vs Supercharger?

So what do you think is better as an upgrade to a NASP 4 cylinder engine to add more power? Depends entirely what you want and how you use it. Generally superchargers feel quite nice on the road with a boost directly proportional to the revs and this historically was preferred by some over the sudd...

Re: Warrenty Extension for BMW M2

Yeah I wondered that, but I went for a £100 excess without BMW assist (I'm with the AA anyway) which was under £400, and my local dealers are luckily really good generally so I thought I'd go with the BMW warranty simply for no quibble repairs. Lots of factors to consider though.

Re: Henry Catchpole in a 992 Turbo S vs F40 M135i

The problem for the Tesla is that it can only do it once. The Porsche can do it all day long. Not just that but wait till they get to the first corner. Even if the Tesla out drags it, it's not a sports car and would soon disappear behind faced with some challenging corners with all that weight from...

Re: Tesla model 3 performance (dual motor)

the nice stuff are the non-obvious things people never talk about: like how if you need to move the car down the driveway, you dont feel bad for not having warmed up the motor and burning off carbon deposits. driving around town you glide along using a single pedal (due to regen) and the quietness ...

Re: Warrenty Extension for BMW M2

If this was a 3 year old 340i or 3 year old mini cooper S i wouldn't even consider an extended warranty, for the fact i've run the car from new and it's not missed a beat. But as it's an 'M' product I'm 50/50. My 140i has just hit the same timepoint (had the brake fluid done last week) but I've sti...

Re: Faulty exhaust valve actuator?

I just removed the spring and lockwired the valve open. Makes no difference to the car, still no drone etc, not sure why they bothered with it for all the faff it causes.
