Re: Does 228i M Sport have Active Sound?

Just an update: yes the 228i M sport conv. (UK model) does have it and yes it can be configured to sound like a 235i/240i...!

With windows up it is almost impossible to spot that it is no longer a 4-cyl! Which is, I suppose, a testament to how smooth the turbo 4 is.

Re: Cat sulphurized

We had a similar issue on our N43 E88, and I was just about to make a post about fuels. Initially, we had very occasional flutter on idle, which developed into a more noticeable one, and eventually a full-on misfire. Four new injectors were fitted, and it was OK for a few weeks. The the flutter re-a...

Re: Doors rattle/move on F23 convertible

Well yes, we will go MPSS when the RFTs are worn out, but as that would be a very expensive test, I wondered of there was either of:
1. Known issue and some expected adjustment
2. Just some adjustment of striker/whatever else

I'm assuming that it isn't a window tension setting?

Re: Doors rattle/move on F23 convertible

Yes, both M-Sport and both on RFTs, albeit that I swapped to MPSS when they wore out, cracked up, drove me mad, etc. There was some 'scuttle shake' on the E88, but there really isn't on the F23, although the movement of the windows might suggest otherwise I appreciate. Point is the E88 didn't move i...

Doors rattle/move on F23 convertible

Came from a E88 120i to a F23 228i. The 120i was a good deal more flexy in the body but we never had any audible movement of the doors against the seals. The 228i F23 is very much more refined and 'tight', BUT the doors appear to 'rattle' on both sides - I don't mean a something loose rattle, but th...

Re: Changing tyres - insurance implications?

Agree always get insurer to confirm in writing. Or record the call. The geometry point is bollocks, albeit that a tyre with a nearly 2" thick sidewall will make the car handle differently! And a 228i in the UK has RFTs, but the one sold in the US has MPSS. Equally, RFTs are an option for the M240i i...

Re: BimmerCode and ASD - do's and dont's?

Thanks for the info. I think 'Off' or 'Default Value' are the two options in 'Simple Mode' - meaning just off or on - and entering Expert Mode will give a wider selection of adjustments. However, are you saying that when you reconnected BC to turn it back on, you just saw ONE menu item under ASD - j...

F2x with start-stop - condition as AGM battery?

In terms of using battery conditioners on an F2x with start-stop, I assume that the battery is an AGM, and so should be conditioned with that setting as opposed to just a 'normal' car battery mode?

BimmerCode and ASD - do's and dont's?

I was contemplating seeing what difference it makes to deactivate ASD, and/or adjust levels. I've read a few posts re BimmerCode and they're not terribly recent, so, looking for some advice along these lines please in case the App has moved on: 1. Using simple mode, does BC successfully turn ASD off...

Thanks, does anyone have any details - there's nothing in the Owners Manual that I can see?

Does 228i M Sport have Active Sound?

Anyone able to tell me?

And if so, in Sport/+ mode only?

With HK audio?

I think this is the current basics service package:

RTTI is standard for first 3 years, renewable thereafter.

Not sure how RTTI works without Navigation (i.e. maps), but I'm sure someone will chime in.

Re: New car, what’s the infotainment spec??

I suspect that once you have the car, you will be able to create your account on BMW connected drive etc., and then subscribe to other services at your own expense. When you log in to that service, you get a home page something like: Screen Shot 2017-12-31 at 11.25.16.png What's a bit confusing is t...

Re: Alcantara Seat Colour

I've had some alcantara retrimming done and I have found the black is VERY susceptible to colour differences. However, as factory fit, if you have a visible difference I have not seen that and would reject it. If the nap is causing it to be different, then this should have been spotted at time of ma...

Re: 220i or 228i

We moved from a 120i convertible to a 228i convertible - sorry not quite the comparison you're looking for, but thought I'd share. Am absolutely delighted, even though this is my wife's car. The 2 vs. the 1 is a massive improvement in so far every respect. RFTs amazingly seem tolerable (certainly we...
