Re: 123d - to keep or not to keep?

I went against the tide of popular opinion when I bought my used N47 powered 1 series last year. All the media hype and online hysteria about diesel being banned is tosh! They can’t quickly ban something they pushed everyone to purchase a few years ago (remember Gordon Browns ‘dash for diesel’?) It ...

Re: The end of fast cars ???

Thought we were leaving the EU and some of their proposals behind. EU members can both influence EU policy and choose to opt out if they don't want to adopt. UK has done that with working time directive, Schengen, etc, etc. Even as an EU member the UK can choose not to adopt if they want to and wou...

Re: Where is this noise coming from?

Never took the brakes apart on mine, so not sure exactly what the design is, but... I had exactly this noise on my old VW last year (high pitched squealling, stops when you brake and changes/stops with steering direction changes). There is a piece of spring steel that inserts into the caliper and it...

Re: m140 with no rock guards? i think zunsport have the answer

I be used to be involved with Zunsport as a supplier and I can say that the quality of the products is generally better than OE. All of the mesh is very high quality and the coatings they use are very good quality. In fact, when they were known as WW Tech, they used to make the OE grilles for JLR (T...

Re: My BMW 116i - What to do to it?

Mate, you’re only 17 once so do what you want with your car! When I was 17 all my cars had to be louder and sportier (and they were all rubbish tbh, a bmw as your first car is a great start!). Some of the advice in this thread is ok though, definitely get the car properly clean and shiny. Makes a hu...

Re: BMW AUC haggling/negotiation

I didn’t think I’d use the warranty in the first 12months either... I had a caliper stick on, knackered the disc, pads and the wheel centre melted! They recovered the car, offered a courtesy car, replaced the caliper and fitted new discs and pads on the front. Nearly a grand at main dealer prices. T...

Re: BMW AUC haggling/negotiation

I’ve bought 2 AUC in the last 3 years, theys don’t budge on prices in my experience. Time is all you have really, play the waiting game, if the car hangs around the sales pitch a fair few weeks they do tend to reduce them. I’ve always found that the prices are a little on the high side but you do ge...

Re: E87 dealer service cost

I’ve just used Sytner Birmingham for a service (oil and filter), inspection and MOT test.

£183 inc vat

I was shocked at the low price and I think it’s well worth it to maintain the BMW history on the car.

Re: Bmw e88 rear suspension upper& lower arm bolts??

I wouldn’t risk that from screw fix. The proper one is grade 10.9 and has some sort of galvanise on it (based on the photo above), being grade 10.9 and galv, it would have to be stress relieved to avoid the risk of hydrogen embrittlement, the 10.9 grade is really quite strong compared to cheap base ...

I have old vw’s and an old jag, petrol engines have way more character.
As a man who is currently driving a V10 twin turbo Diesel with 750nm available from 2K rpm Id beg to differ ;)
Well that’s a bit better than a bmw 4pot diesel

What vehicle is that in?

He has another new entry this week. From 3.30. https://youtu.be/WYMKKulMC5E Getting to be a infamous on YouTube now. How is that anyone’s fault but his own? Re: 1 Series Cope vs. 3 Series Coupe

I agree about diesels, they’re not the nicest engines and the petrols suit the cars character better. But for some of us they are a necessary evil. I have old vw’s and an old jag, petrol engines have way more character. I wish I could afford to run a 130 or 135, but the 120d was the best car (with a...

Re: 1 Series Cope vs. 3 Series Coupe

I’ve had extensive experience with 3 and 5 series, I bought my 1 series earlier this year. The 3 and 5 are both excellent cars, there is no doubt about it. But there is something special about E8x 1 series, there’s a feel to it (your so much more connected to everything) that the other two just don’...
