The ZF gearbox can handle more torque, not sure about the manual.
the ZF8 used in these cars is ZF8HP45

The 45 stands for 450Nm max torque capacity

Re: Rattles!!! Arggghhhhhhhh!

My brakes creak like a motherfcker when stopping underload (i.e. on a slope). Going to a stop at a very calm pace in standard driving is fine....stopping the car going down a ramp really creak

Re: Things that annoy you about your car or things that you wish you had

But if you set the iDrive settings to unlock all doors when using comfort access, surely you could unlock all the doors once you get to the car? If someone will be getting to the car first then use the key to unlock? I'm not sure it would be wise for BMW to allow other doors to open by people who d...

Re: Things that annoy you about your car or things that you wish you had

Certainly works for CA, I don't often use the key. What I mean is that only the door closest to the key can be used to trigger the lock/unlock. For example, if I approach the driver's door and the passenger approachers the passenger's door, the passenger touching the handle will not unlock the door...

Re: Things that annoy you about your car or things that you wish you had

Also don't like that only the door nearest the (proximity) key unlocks. I get it's for security reasons, but then again, if you press the button on the key all doors unlock....so it should at least be an option. All doors is as an option on iDrive Seems to me that option is for pressing the button ...

Re: M140i advice.. nearly newbie

My 2016 has creaking/rattling around the door frame. It's not an acoustically-distinctive sound like marble-rattling or high-pitched squeak..... i dont notice it when driving with music on. But with music off, and driving over bumps or or getting on/off curb-ramps, i can hear a groan coming from the...

Re: Things that annoy you about your car or things that you wish you had

I don't like that I need to touch the door handle to lock the car. It should just lock when I walk away from the car. Also don't like that only the door nearest the (proximity) key unlocks. I get it's for security reasons, but then again, if you press the button on the key all doors unlock....so it ...

Re: Winter Wheels and Tyre Sizes

Pressure (force / area) has to do with clawing your way over mud slush and snow. If you don't have that on your roads, then the footprint of the tires is less of a consideration. The main consideration then would be temperature, and whether the tires have the right compound for the lower temps. I'm ...

Re: PCP rough guidance

Regardless of how you bought the car, selling a car bought new so soon after purchase means you swallow a significant loss. On a PCP, it's negative equity, on a cash buy, it's getting much less back than you paid for it which is only slightly less painful as you've already paid for the loss - and a...

Re: Sale/finance Advice

Thanks Guys! Not what I wanted to hear but I guess I’ll be chasing the negative equity for the forseeable future so I might as well get out now. @tricky I love the car but I also want to do a house extension and ditching the car will keep my outgoings sensible. My other logic is the house extension...

Re: Considering m135i to m140i Shadow Edition

>Main reason for considering a change is that my m135i is obviously 5 years old now and I want to get decent money out of the car while I still can. Trade-in value is currently just over £14k. I paid £18,600 for the car as an Approved Used car back in October 2016. Depreciation is a biatch.< Depreci...

Re: Weird vibration/judder on throttle - xDrive issue

the xDrive transfer case is located just about below the driver's seat. The reason that many people advise, or are advised, to stick to the narrow selection of Star-marked tires is exactly for this reason. So it is disconcerting to have report of *MPSS (original spec!!!) causing this issue. On the s...

Tire temp higher on right side of car?

Not a worry, just an observation. I'm running 2 pairs of wheels so it's not just 1 set of tpms sensor that's out of calibration. And it doesn't matter if the cars been parked with one side facing the sun, or if it's driving with one side facing the sun..... and I'm not carrying passengers or cargo l...
