Re: Exhaust burble + Pop

And, on top of that... I only tend to put it in Sport or Sport+ when I'm actually hooning it on a nice road or on track. Never on the motorway for the lols. It's the lurching back and forth in low gear in a dead straight line late at night in a residential area that tends to indicate twattery, rath...

Nice to be able to see oil temps...
Buy a recent M140 or M240. You can have it visible all the time as standard.
Or indeed, several of the others. My 125 has it, oil temperature display, and so did a 220i coupe oli drove.

Re: 12000 rpm M2 Comp??

Equally, I'm surprised there are still people around who think a "rev limiter" can stop you lunching an engine by putting the gear lever into '3' when you're at max revs in '4' :) I suspect it is possible to put a lockout on the gait, but you'd need one on every gear below top, and more complex wiz...

Re: 12000 rpm M2 Comp??

Well, the chap did unfortunately shift into 3rd instead of 5th gear resulting in an engine failure. BMW refused the warranty claim and it ended up costing just over €12,000 to get a replacement engine fitted. Pretty cheeky to even try a claim in the first place. I don't want to pay for other driver...

Re: 12000 rpm M2 Comp??

Because it was a downshift on a manual. I am slightly surprised that nobody has yet invented some sort of electromechanical device which could look out the selector gate where the inevitable result will be a money shift. Equally, I'm surprised there are still people around who think a "rev limiter"...

Re: BMW M2CS - Which colour?

Blue looks too conventional BMW. White with gold alloys reminds me too much of a track car and white with black alloys will have it mistaken for an M240i shadow edition. There's no such thing, and even then, (a) who cares and (b) anyone who knows the slightest thing about cars is going to be able t...

Re: M235i Gran Coupe ordered....anyone else yet?

Thanks all...its frustrating ....in a way wish I had never seen the mpg's I can get doing 25/30k a year in my F30 330d.....up to Leicester from the outskirts of London recently 60 mpg..OBC.mostly middle lane If you are comparing 25/30k miles a year in a diesel doing a constant speed to a brand-new ...

Re: More M-Lites stolen

I wonder if it is a coincidence that police recruitment in the West Mids was frozen about 5 years ago and number today are at 75% of those at the freeze. Police pensions have been decimated for all with under 20 years service yet pension contributions have risen sharply. WMP has suffered the greate...

Re: More M-Lites stolen

A gang doing exactly this kind of nasty key theft home invasion in Birmingham was in fact apprehended late last year. Yes we can take the p*ss but would you prefer the Ugandan police were investigating? How often does this need to happen in a supposedly civilised country before someone cries enough...

Re: More M-Lites stolen

This recent burglary in Birmingham was absolutely savage. Not an M-lite 1 series, but an M-lite X3. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/midlands-news/sisters-hide-toilet-bmw-raiders-17729226.amp Let's not panic, the British police will surely catch them and secure a long sent...

Re: M235i Gran Coupe ordered....anyone else yet?

125i. It varies from 41 mpg on a 27-mile run at constant speed in dry, mild, daytime weather (attached) on a not-busy motorway not in the UK, to low/mid-30s if the traffic is heavy and wound up nice and tight, like an aggressive Friday afternoon, lots of tailgating and lurching back and forth. I cur...

Did you drive the F40 M135i? How does it compare to the R or A35?

Re: M235i Gran Coupe ordered....anyone else yet?

My car does 28 mpg on the motorway when building or maintaining speed on a hill. It also does 70+ mpg the other side of the hill... The wonderful thing about the internet is that you can present your own facts to suit the agenda, for example, "right now the car is doing 28 mpg and therefore that's t...

Re: Bimmercode / First Service

My car has been serviced twice and its had plenty of Bimmercoding. On one visit the DME software was updated, and separately I have updated the iDrive software via the USB port. No problems, nothing noted, nothing bricked. All I did was adjust the seat heater temperatures, disable auto on/off, alter...

Re: M235i Gran Coupe ordered....anyone else yet?

Autocar signed off with "lesson here is probably to live and let live" which is refreshingly balanced and old-fashioned in today's rather bigoted, intolerant, internet-powered world. And the same engine that Autocar described as sounding "muscular", if somewhat synthetic, is also like a "sewing mach...
