Re: A35 vs Golf R vs M135i

Have to disagree on your interior comment though. Most people probably buy these as their daily’s and probably spend a lot of time in them. So it’s important that it’s a nice place to sit with creature comforts. A nice looking dash can improve the whole driving experience in my opinion. Sure I didn...

Re: A35 vs Golf R vs M135i

Can they make the Golf look any more dull? I'm not saying that it should be covered with wings and rubbish like that, but just the shape of the Golf is so tired, it's just too boxy. The Merc is by far the nicest shape of the three for me (though i hate the wing, why? on a road car? they do squat). A...

Re: Adaptive w/ Eibach or B12

Have you actually driven it long enough to find out if you even need to change the suspension? 30k miles is nothing so there's no age reason to be changing anything unless one of the dampers is actually leaking. Point i'm making is are you changing things just because you read on the internet that y...

Re: Dry days need more power 😂

I suspect i'm an odd one out here, but i don't want any car i own to be able to break traction in the dry, ever..(well i mean unless you do something retarded like dump the clutch from a stand still at 5k rpm) in my view cars that can are undertyred.

Re: Major service: BMW or independent?

..... Whenever I mention Indy, in my head I see the place that my car is currently at today having its service - BMW only', plenty of M cars and M lites, years of experience and reputation, run their own race car, and are travelled to nationally for their work / reputation - they don't service othe...

Re: Stone chips on bonnet

Where are you guys driving that you get constant stone chips? Had my car four and a half years and yet to get a single one. I do very little motorway driving, but about 25% of my driving is on A roads. Though I have an E82, don't know if it just has better paint.

Re: Windscreen washer fluid flowing back

Surely the only way there could be a delay from pump activation to actual spray of water is because there's a leak somewhere leading to an empty bit of pipe. There's no way that if the entire pipe between pump and jet is full of water that there can be any delay at all between the pump activating an...

Re: M140i Stage 2 Insurance

How will they know ..... Quite simply they will ask. Under a statement of truth the insured will say I had whatever renap and they may make enquiries of the tuner. They may ask what power the map should produce. If it's over 425 Then it could be awkward. The fact that it may not have made that is l...

Re: is it mapped, can I get rid?

no cat is MOT fail only if they know it's no cat Pretty sure actually that the emmissions measurements will tell them it has no cat. cat's remove some ridiculous percentage of the NOx etc from the engine fumes, I can't imagine any combustion engine getting any where near the current emmissions stan...

Re: Solar trickle charger

I see from this thread the battery in F40 is located under the bonnet - another example of changing from rear to front-wheel drive:) https://babybmw.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=134726 What a weird thing to do. I mean as in to bother changing it from the rear of the car after years (decades?) of havin...

Re: Major service: BMW or independent?

I for one am not going to restrict the potential market for my car when i come to sell it to the small minority of people that are likely to prefer it's been "independant specialist" serviced and maintained. I would actively avoid those "indy only" buyers actually  (for cla...

Re: is it mapped, can I get rid?

BMW can tell you if it's ever been mapped. There is a flag in the code that gets set permanantly (apparently) that lets them know. (there is a thread on this forum of a member that got sold a car by a BMW dealer, who had specifically asked for one that had never been mapped, and then subsequently wa...

Re: Major service: BMW or independent?

Having bought a few older older BMW’s I totally disagree. Service history is important but I’m far more interested in preventative maintenance having been done to rectify the inevitable faults as they approach 10 years old. Certainly when I was looking for a 125 /130 for my other half this year I d...

Re: Solar trickle charger

Morning all, Do any members have a solar trickle charger? If so I'd be interested to hear their views. My F40 sits stationary for a couple for months at a time and the last battery went below the serviceable recharge level which meant a new battery. Also it has 2 12v sockets one in the dash board a...

Re: I hate Piano Black!!!

I have to say, i've never understood the gloss black plastic thing. To my eye it just looks cheap, the complete opposite to what the manufacturer is trying to achieve i suspect. I guess their thinking is shiny = expensive.
