Re: Orange peel paint M140i...

My 2 year Hyundai is way better than my 140 for paint finish, says it all really.

Are we talking M140 or Mk1 escort?
You only have to look at the threads on rusty bootlids to realise the cars are pretty rubbish quality so anything that reduce the chances of rust has to good. Depends how long you intend keeping the car as to whether it's worth it.

Re: Scared to spend the money ...

Easy come easy go, 10k isn't alot to have as savings, it's a reasonable cushion for those things that come out of the blue. Personally I would go PCP unless desperate to own the car.

Tomorrow you could lose your job.

Re: Scratches plastic screen in front of dials M140i

Be wary using brasso on acrylic type plastics as it can cause hazeing and permanent damage. Use something like Xerapol which I've used over the years to good effect. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/XERAPOL-ACRYLIC-PLASTIC-POLISH-PERSPEX-SCRATCH-REMOVER-RESTORATION/163368140276?epid=1517425483&hash=item26...

Re: Best way to deal with that dent

The best way of dealing with dents is do your shopping online and get it delivered. Thanks. It's been difficult to find clear information. I'm looking for primer at the moment, but can only find large cans/sprays. Don't I need a pen-touch for that too? I don't want to have to repaint a large area. ...

Re: M140i Stolen in Bolton

Unfortunately it's come to point where you don't leave keys anywhere off your person when out and about, in hindsight and all that, but hoping keys and other personal affects are safe in lockers in public places is asking for it. Good deal with GAP and why I took it out. Hope it will turn out painle...

Re: m140i battery type

Mines stored through winter and use a CTEk with AGM function for stop, start batteries, conected to under bonnet charging points. They're a little pricey but worth the money. Used them for years with no issues.

Re: PCP Help needed

A classic scenario as the OP I don't think really understands pcps, interest charges etc, rose tinted spectacles dictates how easy it is to get into a new car for little outlay without thinking down the line. Its a vicious circle at the end of the day. I would ride the PCP out, sounds like you don't...

Re: Mud Flaps - M140i

If you plan on the keeping the car long term I would keep them off to be honest, they're a great way of trapping moisture, salt, dirt etc. Had the fronts on the 135 but left off the 140 and applied 3m film along the sills from the front wheels to the doors. Far better way of protecting your sills t...

Re: Exhaust end caps

From past topics the BMS tips are no better, in fact I'm sure they were originally advertised for summer use only. Why not just leave the tips off then not an issue.
