Re: Flickering lights

To steal from a reply I posted in a different thread about xenon bulbs: If you want brigher bulbs, a set of Nightbreakers in BMW fitment will sort you out: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07FYP6QJV I bought them and the light output is ace, but they're surprisingly yellow for xenons (4500k) so ended up...

Interesting , what to you use to log the data ?
Bimmerlink app - lets you pick the datapoints, shows them on a dashboard in real time and saves the log as a CSV once you hit stop. Graph is just excel, anything similar will work (google sheets, numbers on mac etc.)!

Re: Middle lane hoggers

On the subject of motoring caselaw here's an interesting one that seems to get swept under the carpet, in essence it is not an offence to warn drivers of a speed trap unless they are clearly exceeding the speed limit http://www.bailii.org/ew/cases/EWHC/Admin/2005/2333.html Unless you do it by flash...

Re: Middle lane hoggers

Completely agree it's situational. I quite often get flashed for lane hogging on a certain dual carriage stretch of the A27 (Falmer). It's on a very long, sweeping downhill corner, great for putting your foot down in your diesel Audi to impress the Mrs, but at the end of that corner there's a slip r...

Re: Bimmerlabs 125i Tune

It doesn't look like a tune, just the stock firmware for a 130i. So rather than modifying tables etc. to 130i values to up the power you'd be using WinKFP to overwrite the entire ECU. Seems a little risky if you couldn't be absolutely certain there was no difference between the two!

Re: Took the 130i to Millbrook Proving Grounds!

CAT are a forum sponsor and have done discounted group buys in the past, could be worth seeing if they're able to do it again?

Re: Nyxeris' E81 130i

Swapped the unmodified airbox back on yesterday. Logged the temps running the same route as before (~16 miles, 75% rural A roads, 25% around town) in the same spirited manner. I'm purely looking the ambient/IAT delta here which should be fairly comparable all things considered, but this is about as ...

Bodystyle is a consideration too. E82/E88 rear bumpers won't fit E81/E87 (and vice versa).

Re: Front end refresh.. Headlight refurb in particular.

I know on an e46 you can just swap them and they look brand new again. Would be much easier than the above! Both cars I've done it on were E46s. First one had xenons, which are sealed together (same as E8x)... But the second had halogens which have the replaceable lenses. I just assumed they were t...

Re: Front end refresh.. Headlight refurb in particular.

I've used the Meguiars kit myself, and a family member bought the 3M kit and I helped them use it. Both lasted maybe 6-8 months before the lights were clouding up again from the edges inwards. The family member's car was redone by sanding then 2k clearcoating and that held for at least 2 years, they...

Re: tracker

Make sure you've properly read the terms to work out what your insurers consider a tracker - had that rigmarole with the Defender's renewal. If you've declared a tracker and the car goes walkies, the very first thing they'll do is ask for the tracker's access info. If they find out it doesn't meet t...
