Re: Can somebody point me in the right direction

You just need the specs off the label. Will look something like this:

Alternatively, you can just stick the part number into RealOEM and it'll tell you the size/capacity there.

Stick a pic up if that's easier?

Re: Can somebody point me in the right direction

Look at the one you've already got and buy one of matching spec. You'll need to register it with Bimmerlink/INPA/Carly etc. once it's installed, but that's an easy job.

Re: DSC refit problems. Errors! E87

One of the codes shown in the pic mentions power management - has your battery run low? If you charge it up, clear the codes, then go for a drive do they come back?

Re: Ignition on for Coding?

Sorry, got the wring end of the stick there - if you're just playing with TRC/MAN files and not actually poking around inside modules you definitely don't need to be connected for that, might even be better that you aren't as you won't be rushing! Plug in and generate your files, then go indoors, ba...

Re: Ignition on for Coding?

With NCSExpert or ISTA/P it's always ignition on, engine off. Having the engine running while coding is potentially very dangerous, and it's better to never, ever do it. Even if what you're doing doesn't directly affect the DME, if you're making changes in a gateway module like the CAS or FRM, both ...

Re: Derby police have an unmarked M135i

When I worked for a manufacturer marked blue light vehicles were their own special trim level and left the factory heavily kitted out, whereas the unmarked vehicles were just standard spec cars that were delivered straight to the workshops to have the toys added bolt-on style. Nothing was ever mappe...

Re: OEM Xenon retrofit (now complete)

IFH009 is a general error that basically means your computer isn't able to exchange data with the car, but it's normally an issue with the hardware or software installation rather than the modules themselves. First thing to check would be the cable's drivers are properly installed, then check that t...

Did you try to write the VIN using Tool32 as mentioned above?

Re: Nyxeris' E81 130i

Yeah basically as you've written it. The underside looks like this: https://i.imgur.com/9ytKfvC.jpg Looks fine at first glance, but the black tabs alternate direction so once the sill is installed the clips can't slide out anymore, you have to pry upwards. Unless you get the trim tool right undernea...

Re: Nyxeris' E81 130i

The armrest really suits, are you replacing it like for like? Or going for the armrest delete? Definitely keeping one, it's a life(elbow) saver on longer trips, plus the storage is handy! Are they a 'simple' pull off and push on job, or was there much swearing involved? They just pop upwards with a...

You can get little sample kits of POR15, if you can rub most of the rust away the kit will sort it.

Re: Nyxeris' E81 130i

Staying on the interior theme, I'll be replacing the armrest as I've chased down the source of its constant f**king creaking to a couple of broken off tabs in the hinge. As a bit of an experiment knowing it's going anyway, I used some leftover scuffmaster to colour match it to the rest of the interi...

Re: Carbon cleaning BMW E81

Give this a watch and decide if it's something you want to have a bash at - not really a DIY job unless you've got a very well kitted out garage.
