Re: Rear arms

Either way the rust protection on it is poor. There is no similar corrosion on the subframe of my Mrs' Alfa Giulietta and that car is older. [...] Unlike older BMW's the E8X doesn't seem built to last. The interior feels a bit low rent compared to cars like the E46 as well. BMW stopped applying und...

Re: 200mph on the M23

This isn't far from me. As silly as it was, it's more than a little bit infuriating to see the local police response to it whilst theyre also refusing to publicly acknowledge an absolute tidal wave of rural crime in the county caused by everyone's favourite caravan enthusiasts exploting people being...

Re: E87 - something missing in engine bay

Look on this topic on polish forum. One guy started to print covers for this holes. Check picture. https://www.bmw-klub.pl/forum/viewtopic.php?f=164&t=371208 If you want to be sure, if you should have water pump, check realoem.com with your VIN. Does this guy sell the covers and could he ship to th...

Re: Grass is always greener

I can't recommend a 130 enough, all I'd say is buy one with as much kit already on it as possible. I avoided buying an LE because it would have cost me about £1000 more and another £500 on insurance (no idea why) but after retrofitting xenons, Alpine upgrade, folding mirrors, cruise control etc. I'v...

Re: What Did You Do To Your 1 Series Today?

I had this planned for a while, did the same with the wifes car. I didn’t like the gloss black, so painted it. I had to remove the center console, and putting the roof open is a big advantage. When removing the gear knob, mind your teeth! You have to pull really firm. The rotating painting stand is...

Re: E92 m3

Or the last owner got rid to avoid paying for it... Can't remember if it was Steve Dinan or someone else who said if the car hasn't had it done by 100k it's usually too late to save the crankshaft? Yanks do love a bit of rod bearing drama though so who knows. You could phone around the usual suspect...

Re: headlight upgrade

Give this thread a read: https://www.babybmw.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=90909 Then buy this set of genuine BMW xenons from for for sale section: https://www.babybmw.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=60&t=128159 And the rest of your parts from eBay/a breakers/Cotswold. It's all in the first thread. Genui...

Re: OEM+ 130i

Not sure what you'd need as my E81 has the brace from the factory, but when I lowered my subframe to install inserts I had to disconnect the brace from the rods and those bolts were single-use stretchy ones, so the ones that are there already might actually need swapping too :(

Re: Anybody want to code my E82 for some beer tokens?

Part 2 here has all the info you need. Very difficult to brick the car, as long as your battery is healthy and fully charged (or connected to a good power supply) it'll be fine. FYI those codes are because removing your slip ring trips the steering angle sensor. Until you get the sensor recalibrated...

Re: Garage floor coatings

Cheers, I like the look of the epoxy, just loads of different types out there so it's hard to work out which one to go with!

I have some solid rubber stable mats which might go down over a coating to protect the high-traffic areas, they're double hard although weigh about 50kg each!

Re: Diamond custom leather car mats

Berg has a set of similar mats in his 130 (not sure if they're leather/pleather/fabric?). They do look lovely, but I wouldn't be using this company to get them when they're 1/4 the price elsewhere. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190814/955853c5dba5c5f7771a14050c394eaf.jpg https://uploads.tapatal...

Re: Diamond custom leather car mats

They seem far too cheap to be real leather and their website is very short on detail. Their "no cars other than those listed and no customisation of the mats" makes me think it's all Chinese pattern stuff being resold for a huge markup. Edit: From their "shipping" page: even though we are a United K...

Re: Rear subframe replacement

Do E8x replacement hard lines come pre-bent? They don't for many other BMW models so worth keeping in mind if you have to bend them yourself and you don't have the proper kit. The 4 shorter lines should be supplied pre-bent, but the long runs from the front of the car to the rear subframe won't be....

Garage floor coatings

Anyone used one they can recommend? Garage is being rebuilt so will be completely empty and a longer cure time won't be an issue. Slab is 29m2 and 30ish years old (structurally sound, so not getting it re-poured). Oil/petrol/chemical resistant would be nice. I'm thinking some sort of epoxy but there...
