Re: MASSIVE front arch gap

Probably.

If you buy cheap, you buy twice. :(

Re: MASSIVE front arch gap

They're listing diesel models (as well as petrols) in the description, which would throw massive red flags for me.

The diesels (and 6 Cylinder) cars are heavier, requiring longer/stronger springs.

Re: MASSIVE front arch gap

Yup, that's a bit on the bouncy side. Are you sure you bought 116i/118i/120i springs? Got a link to what you bought?

Do you have access to a multimeter or similar?

Re: Battery registration and coding.

For the Auto stop/start to kick in (that's the error you're seeing on the dash), the car needs to be in neutral with the clutch up. It also needs to have warm coolant, sufficient brake vacuum, no A/C load, sufficient battery charge, etc, etc.

Not the battery. The vacuum sensor has failed on the servo.
Could be, they do like to fail.

Could also be a faulty Gearbox Neutral sensor, or (less commonly) Clutch position switch.

Re: Might as well keep it in the family...

To keep it as fair as possible, value both cars on the same price estimator, and subtract to give her the cost to change.

Evans Halshaw, WBAC, whatever.

Re: Different Speed Rating on one of my tires!

Ok those Rainsports in 94Y I linked to earlier would probably be good. Comfortable over crap roads, but still stable enough to have some fun with.

Re: New red leather interior

I doubt you'll be able to clear any airbag errors with Carly or Bimmercode. sh*t, thanks for that info. I'll let you know later if I do get the error. What are my options if I do get the airbag error? Chat up a crash repair centre / BMW main dealer? They must be able to deal with airbag errors.

Re: New Battery Time

AGM batteries are needed on basically all BMW's after 2007 for the Efficient Dynamics fast charging. They need coding to the car so they new one doesn't get cooked instantly - resets the charging profile.

Re: New red leather interior

Door cards are generally pretty tough, I wouldn't be too worried about those.

Make sure the battery is disconnected (after you've opened all the doors) and any residual current drained from the electrics by putting the headlights on. Avoids AirBag problems.

Re: Different Speed Rating on one of my tires!

Are you specifically after runflats? Or want a superior standard tyre?

Mid-range? Premium? What kind of journeys? Are the roads good/poor? Sporty driving? Etc??
