Re: Modding a M140

I'm the same with regard to coming out of a company car scheme, albeit due to change of employer, and about the same budget too. Didn't go for PCP though but decided to buy 12 months old with a bank loan instead, main reason with change of job if it didn't work out, didn't want to be tied with a PC...

Re: Cruise control question

The errors don’t stop anything from working as far as I can tell. They are just logged in the error message list. I imagine if you cut the wires to those extra buttons, the switch cluster would work normally. I am going to attempt to link those M buttons with the mode button. Would be great having m...

Re: ODB2 data for brake pressure/movement in F20

I’m not sure about this data on OBD language, but it does exist on ECU CAN. As far as I can tell it’s not really an analogue output to give scale, on my AIM logger it shows as a value between 0 and 23, but seems to be either zero or almost instantly 23. I logged one session recently to see what it c...

Re: Modding a M140

Not particularly clever to remap and decat a car on finance. Decat makes the car illegal for road use, which means instant insurance invalidation.

Remap of course invalidates the warranty, which the owner [the bank] doesn’t appreciate much either.

Re: Adding extra mileage to finance?

Also depends on what you intend to do with the car at the end of the agreement. If it’s going back to BMWFS, then yes they will bill you for excess mileage. If you buy the car, or trade it in at a BMW dealer, for example. The car will be worth less due to mileage, but you won’t have to pay more in. ...

Brake fluid change is categorically NOT included in the standard Fxx service inclusive.

Re: B58 broken oil filter/housing

Agreed, there's no good reason to change the filter early. New filters don't even filter as well as old ones, it's very important not to confuse filtration Beta ratio with flow rate. Old filters are better at cleaning oil and trapping nasties, basically. Whilst there is truth in what you say. A fil...

Re: Getting a BMW LSD fitted.....should I code out the E-LSD?

E-LSD (and stability control) is activated when it sees a large difference in wheel speeds ( wheelspin detected). When you have a LSD in there, this doesn’t really happen as the diff keeps wheelspin under control. I guess no harm in coding it out, but not really necessary. Sent from my iPhone using ...

They have wheels in Europe too. It’s not as primitive as you’d expect [emoji4]

Help M3 LCA & TS parts wrong

You need 4 off -062 which you have. These are replacement nuts for the hub side.

You need 2 off -888. You only have one.

You need -760 668 nuts which you don’t have.

Don’t know why they sent you 767 496 ???

Still missing 797-237 (2 off screws)

Re: Thruxton 90db Static

90dB? Is that drive by? That’s very quiet if it is static.
I’m sure mine runs around 93dB (M2 rear section) static, but must also be the quietest car on the circuit when I go to track days. How would anyone else pass if that is the 1m 45 degree static test?

Re: Drivetrain loss figure

Only lazy engineers work to a % loss. If you double the power of an engine, you really think the gearbox losses will be doubled? Not a chance. In reality a gearbox takes a certain amount of power to turn. Increasing the load ( same speed) adds additional loads on the bearings, etc which does increas...
