Michelin tyre shortages?

Post by RMB123d » Thu Nov 08, 2018 8:10 pm

I need new rears soon and I'm struggling to find any 255/35 18 PS4 michelins

Anyone know if there is an issue with supply? Blackcircles have none.

There is some sort of issue going on yes but not sure what. I doubt it has anything to do with the fact that Michelin have just announced their Dundee plant to close but you never know.

I ordered some as part of a wheel/tyre package deal from Demon Tweeks (mid October) and it took a couple of weeks for the sales guy to get the 255/35/18 PS4's. In the end he had to out source them from a supplier they don't normally use who was charging much more money for them as well. Luckily I didn't have to pay the extra cost.

Seen them going for as much as £180-£190 per tyre!!

If you can find them at a reasonable price I'd get them when you can. You could try Demon Tweeks but doubtful they'd be competitive on price now considering how hard it was for them to get them. Usually they just buy direct from Michelin but they didn't have any nor did any of the tyre brokers they use hence why they had to outsource somewhere new.

Thanks everyone,

Micheldever must be part of protyre as it redirects to them online. They seem to have them at protyre although they're £190 each!
Camskill coming in at £161.
ATS are coming out at about £142 each. So best so far.
I'm sure I only paid just over £400 for four originally from Costco, but they are a PITA because I need to take the wheels off and on again myself as they won't fit non standard sizes to a car!

I'll keep looking to see if I can get any cheaper. The situation isn't critical about 3-4mm I think, but having to go very careful on the throttle in these current conditions.

Thanks again.

Protyre are a blackcircles listed fitter, if you buy of BC and have a protyre nearby you can get them fitted by them cheaper than BC would charge you to supply and fit. They'll even throw in a free front wheel alignment check through BC.

ATS and Black Circles are both owned by Michelin, so always your best bet to try them first. £142 a tyre sounds about right for a PS4 in that size, my original rears were £155 when the PS4 was first launched.
