Spare wheel / tool pack

Post by BmwRuss »

Hi all,

A week into my E82 ownership.

The car has Bridgestone run flats on the back and Dunlop Sports on the front (not run flats). All tyres nearly new which is good.

There's no jack/spare wheel in the boot, nor nothing else except the towing bar. Is it possible to get a space saver wheel and toolkit made for the car? I'd like something as backup.

Whats everyones thoughts?

Thanks

there is a kit from BMW, it had a silly cover that straps over the spare wheel, the spare wheel is actually a skinny aluminium wheel as well not a steel one, I bought a 17" steel space saver and tied it in the boot with a small jack out of a suzuki swift for long trips

Get a small pump for the boot for a slow puncture to get you home and on the very rare time you have a blowout just csl the RAC/AA

As above, Do not mix runflats with regular tyres.

I'd be questioning how it passed an MOT like that as it should have failed with mixed spec tyres.

I used to have an E46 space saver spare in my E87, now in my E88 I only have a jack (square shaped like the Renault logo; this is how Renault got inspired for their logo 😂) are a puncture repair kit.
If I get really stuck, I call someone to bring me a winter tyre/rim which I have stored at home. Or call AA.

Thanks all.

Yes may change two of the tyres actually. The SP sports are the newer ones on the front so I guess change the run flats?

Getting rid of the runflats improves the comfort drastically. Can’t understand why bmw didn’t develop the whole suspension with keeping in mind the stiffness of the tyres.
Looks like the design was finished and they found out there was no place for a spare.
