Eccentric shaft sensor seal

Post by jimmy-120sport » Sat Jan 06, 2018 5:09 pm

Hi all,

How hard it this to change on an n46 engine? Got car back from having some work done and noticed the strong smell of burning oil again through the vents and Thought it was the bloody rocker gasket again  but on removing the acoustic cover it seemed to be coming from the oil cap gasket so turned that round and degreased and cleaned the area and took it for a drive and checked it again, the oil cap is still dry so the other culprit in that area has to be the eccentric shaft sensor, I've checked on realoem and see you can get a replacement gasket/flange (part no-11377502022)

Is this an easy diy or is it a pain the arse?

Cheers

I'm interested to hear your result after replacing that gasket. I had to have the gasket on the oil filter mount replaced.
The items you mention are the usual source of oil leak that cause oil odour in the cabin... Very hard to find!
Regret I cannot help with DIY.

Touch wood it looks like it's an easy replacement, just waiting to get some time off work to try and change it over and will let you know my findings  I got my seal from Amazon
