Do not get the dealer to wash your car!!! They damaged it (BMW Cooper Teesside)

Post by A1SHx » Thu Jun 14, 2018 9:21 am

As most of you know it’s standard rule not to let any dealer touch your car when it comes to a courtesy wash however I’ve never had any issues when Mercedes wash my partners car whenever it’s in for repair/service thought why not as the BMW was filthy!!!

Mine went in for the recent recall went to go pick my car up and the service advisor took me out to my car and stated the car had been damaged as apparently the nozzle of the jet wash flew off and hit my car as they were filling up the bucket 🤷🏾‍♀️ there’s now a huge scratch on the door panel

P*ssed off is an understatement!!!! They have offered to fix it free of charge with the body shop department and give me a loan car for the day ImageImageImageImage

Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Well heres one thing.

Thats seriously unlucky or someone just couldn't be arsed to do it properly.

Is there any other damage to the car. Generally I wouldnt let anyone wash my car either end up with swirls and scratches etc, is there any of that on the car?

At least they were honest and have offered to fix it and as they should.

I wouldnt accept anything less than perfect on the repair either.

Stephen James broke my wing mirror once. Didn't mention it to me but I fortunately spotted it before driving off.

As soon as I mentioned it they got the chap who parked it for me to confirm it wasn't like that when i handed it to him and replaced it.

I bet they didnt mention it. This shouldn't be happening. Mistakes happen but some of these so called mistakes I have been hearing of should be totally avoidable

Sh*t happens, people make mistakes all the time.

I did exactly what's happened to you on our E91 when we'd only had it a few months, was washing it with the hose and the hose slipped out of my hand and the end went straight down one of the panels and left a nice scratch!!

At least they have offered to fix it for you.

I've never had an issue so far (touch wood) with BMW washing either of mine. No marks or even any swirl marks.

Hes saying the nozzle flew off though i can understand yourself dropping it. But this by the sounds of it has shot off like a bullet.

But like you say. Atleast they are fixing it. They could have been awkward for sure.

It's also got a small dent when you look at it from a side :(

The service advisor was trying to fob me off saying" its just a crease, its just a crease" honestly who do these people employ?!?

I dropped my mother-in-laws car off at the dealer few years ago (Vauxhall) the door had dropped.

I went to collect later... “we’re just washing it” they opened the door and tried to get me straight in and away. I did a quick check and huge dent where they had used a bar to lift the door hinge.

Ended up painting, which didn’t match and after much arguing they swapped the car out as we refused to accept the repair.

I’ve never let a dealer or garage wash mine personally. If they offer to fix, being honest and repair is 100% fair play to that dealer.

Could have tried to hide like the above.

This is why you tell them not to wash your car OR keep a laminated placard in the car stating so.

Haha its funny you say that I'm actually considering a nardo grey wrap

Does a warranty come with BMW bodyshop? let's say for example they fix the damage that they've done and it starts to bubble would they cover that?
