Post by audiovert » Tue Sep 11, 2018 12:27 pm

I know this topic is covered in several threads.
So i thought id start a new one relevant to me.
Ive sourced a pair of mirrors off a 1 series e87 msport lci and switch with both door looms.
I havent bought them yet.
The sellers getting me part numbers so i can check on realoem to verify they fit.

Mirror from e87 will not fit. It has screw in diffrent place. You have to serch mirrors from e81, e82, e88, where doors have no frame.
You read about this, so you know you only need passeger loom. I prefer to change pin in old loom, cause you do not have to unglue door isolation. No problem with water in car. Switch for folding mirror in needed also.

I have an E82 which I am collecting the parts to fit power folding mirrors to, I have the mirrors and already modified my switch panel to have the switch in. All I need now is the door looms and NCS to be able to code them in so they work.

Subscribed to this now so I can see how you get on.

Only passenger loom must be change or modify. Driver is ok. For driver there is only one loom, for passenger you have two (with or witout folding mirrors)

I'm not sure that adding only button will work. Someone wrote here that in his case old panel was working. My old panel do not work with folding mirrors. Mirrors do not work at all with old panel. After changing on panel with button, no problem.

That link lists three looms for the drivers door

From what I researched the E82/88 have a different driver's loom for LIN bus, whereas the same loom works for both LIN & non-LIN on E87/81 which when looking at my E82 was correct info o I will definitely be needing new looms for both doors.

This has all the info you need for the parts:

No you can't just add the button. So far that's as far as I got, all the window switch units have the button, BMW just put a cover on either with the button or no button. The switch panel I got was a four door and grey but my car is a coupe so two door and black. I just drilled the hole in the correct place and used the black button from the grey switch panel so I now have the factory switch for folding as long as mine is one of the ones that will work, if not then I'll just get one with it already working but it is worth a try. Now I just need to do the rest of it!

Where dud you gind info that you have to change driver door loom? It is pointless.
In drivers door you have only one loom for all options PN 61129260907, for passeger you have got for non power folding mirrors PN 61129260922 with power folding mirrors 61129260924. That's all. Look at the link, and read it cearfully. In my opinion buying new passeger loom is also poitless. You can change PIN, and you do not have to reassembly all passeger door. Onlly diffrent is that power wire have 0,5mm not 0,75mm.
For E82 is the same. Driver loom always 61129260903, non folding mirrors 61129260915 and folding mirrors 61129260918. Look here:

No you do not have to change it. You are not the first person that will be doing this. Read first about this retrofit and study wiring here.
https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/
If you buy driver side loom, it will be the same as yours. Every driver loom has 5 wires connected to mirror. Depending on what mirror you have, it works on 5 PIN or 3 PIN, but drivers loom is the same. Even BMW catalog say that there is one part number for folding and no folding mirror. There is no diffrens in wireing between E82, E81, E87, E88, E90, E91, E92 and E93. Study first everything. That pdf from Spindle is good, but he is wrong about wiring for driver door. As he wrote new loom has also 5 PIN for mirror.
https://www.1addicts.com/forums/attachm ... 1436238775
For your retrofit you guys need:
- two folding mirrors from E81, E82 or E88. Not from E87.
- door panel with button
- Extra pins for the connectors (BMW Dealer)
- 3 pins for connector to wire power and lin signal to passenger doors. Driver door already is connected!!!
- 0,75mm wire for power and 0, 35mm wire for LIN. It can be also 0,75mm, but not nessecery.
- optionaly passenger loom. You can modify your current loom. You only have to change place of PINS in plug to mirror and in connector that goes to car. Only difference in new loom is that POWER wire has 0,75mm and aftr modifying 0,5mm, but it is no importend. 0,5mm will do the job.
Read everything here. Bjt write beautifull instruction. Do the same and everything will work. Please do NOT write anymore that you need driver door loom. Bjt even write part number of PIN's that you have to order from BMW.

Did you change switch or only add button? What did you code? Write step by step what you have done.

After fitting the drivers side mirror i went into carly and enabled powerfold mirror and autofold options in cas and frm.
Then i drilled a hole in my current switch panel to fit the button.
Mirrors arnt folding upon lock or able to adjust the drivers side mirror.
I can adjust passenger mirror still.
Any advice please?
