Engine Oil

Post by mostlymauiwaui » Sun Sep 16, 2018 9:18 pm

I'm sure this has been asked before, but I can't find anything using the search.

What's the correct engine oil I should be using for my 2017 118i?

I got the warning message for the first time today.

Also, I'm at 17k mileage, so close to a service. Is it worth servicing where they will do all the other bits too or wait for the service and just top up.

Finally, how much oil will I need?

Sorry for all the n00b questions.

You will need an oil that meets the BMW LL04 spec, these come in 0w-30, 5w-30, 0w-40 and 5w-40. 0w-30 and 5w-30 are best for economy.

According to my records you should need a 4.2ltr just put your reg in here https://www.opieoils.co.uk/ and look for service packs, it will contain the right amount of oil and a filter. Oh, and you get babybmw discount.
