I did put a bid on it, thinking that it would be a cheap way to get a Quaiffe, but got knocked off the top spot by a zero feedback bidder...
Decent price, fbmwsh apparently. I was tempted to ask about the diff but toying with the idea of selling or storing my manual.
I think there's something fishy going on - I think that car's been listed by another seller recently:

2008 E81 130i

If you look at his positive feedback, his feedback is from the other seller that listed the very same 130i.

So it looks like he purchased the car from the original seller(sam.systemsgo-2).

Looks like he genuinely owns the car but is flogging it just after purchasing.

I think....

Any no reserve auctions always flag with me. Normally means some sh*te that somebody wants shot of at any cost. That car might have checked out though...someone either got a deal, or a dog.

Morning all.

Does anyone know anything about this car?

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre ... 3624909574

I’ve tried contacting the seller through here and he hasn’t replied.

Cheers.

Yeah, I’ve seen it in a few places too.

I’m looking around for my first 130i and I seem to keep coming back to it. On paper it seems like a good buy (although it still makes yours a bargain!) as it has some BMWP parts and a full BMWSH although it is the mileage that puts me off. I just wanted to know if the water pump had been done etc.

I wouldnt let the miles put you off buying it. Rather buy a high miler from a member than a lower miler from your average Joe.

My last 130i had 65k on & although the owner had looked after it (owner for 10 years) it didn’t do much miles, was stuck in London most of its life & was completely shot - comparing to my current one.

My new one had 98k when I bought it and drives 100x better than my last one.

However being 12 years old my new one isn’t without its faults.

These cars are at the age now that people can afford to buy them but maybe not maintain properly. Which is a shame.

Guess it depends how many miles you do a year verses how much the car is and how much it's roughly going to drop. Buying a 140/150k one today will be worth a load less at say 170/180 assuming you're doing average miles

But buying a 140k one with the correct modifications would be OK.

These cars aren’t the greatest standard tbh, you’ll need to drop 2k at least to make it more fun & usable imho. I think I spent about 1k-2k on my low miler 130i getting it to drive properly...

The money you save in modifications would be almost worth it as you’ll end up pumping more cash into a standard 130i than a modded one in the future.

Although you may be able to sell the car for more. You’ve actually probably spent a lot more on modifications!

I’d not thought of it but getting one that has all the mods I’d like to do already done makes sense so I’ll hold out for the right car.

These cars are a bit money pit like now imo.

Best to just get anything half decent with the rough spec you need and a colour/doors you want and get going on emptying your wallet haha.

Working in the car trade I can assure you, newer cars can't be an absolute ball ache.

I'm not sure I agree? They're £5k to £6k to pick up a half decent one and the only real issue is the water pump which costs £300 if you source and fit it yourself. On my 93k mile E87 I replaced some bits of trim which were past their best to freshen the interior but even from BMW they didn't cost much. It didn't need doing though.

All the expense on the car has been on unnecessary modifications and I probably would have spent similar money modding any car I bought.

Sorry, but that’s just not true. Some examples could be, others (mine included) are absolutely not.
Famously tough and reliable little cars.
