I actually subscribe to this guys channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/tussik01/videos

Tbh I think the quality of repair he does is so good I wouldn't mind car repaired by him. He sometimes joins two smashed cars but using most of the factory weld points.

All the cars he does come from Copart US, as they are total writeoffs, but end up in Russian as accident-free :P
There are loads of these channels in the states, I used to watch one called SamCrac... he's picked up Audi R8's/Ferrari's/Bentleys for pennies and fixes them up along with then getting them passed by the US version of an MOT.

Stressing that HPI “constantly monitors the quality of the data it generates and receives”, Garcia said: “If the consumer conducts an HPI Check and it did not show the Vehicle Condition Alert Register information, they would be covered by our guarantee if they adhere to our terms and conditions.”

--------

I think Mr Garcia misses the point. Deliberare deflection.

It is the fact that the Alert Register is nowhere near complete and there is no coneback for a vehicle which should have been on it but isn't.

The cat S is interesting. There must be loads of people who acquire a cat s and the first they (and quite often the vendor possibly) know is when the new V5 is produced.

I don't believe the DVLA allow enquiry on their records. Perhaps they should.

Mr Garcia says what everyone needs to hear to keep them using HPI. 30k guarantee doesn’t apply if vehicle is missing from MIAFTR, which is the case for each car in this thread.

Yes as DVLA has to be notified and there is 90k more cars there reported than to MIAFTR just in 2018. I wonder if people actually read that small line on new V5 which states cat S.

DVLA doesn’t allow direct query, and when asked why they stated you can get the same data from other sources and there is no need.

I have a meeting with DVLA end of this month and I will ask them where we can get 100% accurate info and what is this other source they mentioned as nobody in industry is aware of anything else than MIAFTR.

You would think the heavy rear impact, and some front damage is only worry when buying this car from CTC Sports Cars - Cheshire but additionally below car was clocked from 42k down to 13k, just before first MOT...

I wanted to show salvage record is not always big accident damage. This one had a small bump to rear bumper but somehow lost 52k from mileage post-sale in July this year, making is almost brand new...

Advert has just been taken down so we provide screengrab below original advert link.

We are sure this car was 'well looked after' for the last 2 months since salvage auction, and the most likely current owner has no knowledge of any damage, even though he became new owner just a few days after the sale at the salvage yard.

Private Seller" with no owner change post salvage auction. The number plate is hidden, HPI Clear and "Priced to sell fast". Could be no more red flags in one advert...

Below car spent 4 months in current private hands while being fixed. It only covered few miles since salvage auction and we wonder if the seller is going to claim no accident history again...

I was passing Copart in Whitburn earlier today. I was surprised to see some of the cars in their yard.

I guess this is new in.

Do you ever wonder what happens with ex-Police cars? This example came back to use as a personal car, sold as Category C write-off and clocked "only" 150k before first MOT. It looks current owner has no idea of its past, as it was done before him. The car received a new interior, which is common with ex-Police cars, as they come with basic spec.

It’s the good old tell tale speedo that gives the whole game away.

The obvious giveaway on that car is the lack of climate control or auto headlights. All standard on a 330....

And thats just from the photos, guessing the calibrated speedo will still be fitted and the various holed trims in the boot etc will be the next clues
