Re: Analogue instruments pic.
I'm not getting at you for having a different opinion, and yes, I did miss the point you made that you're aware of the digital display (I take it you're also aware that the digital display is standard not optional in the M135i?)

Re: Analogue instruments pic.
For reference, this is the standard A class dash. Aren't those big black voids nice! And who needs speed and tacho at the same time?

Re: Analogue instruments pic.
Yea I had noticed upon googling the standard A-class display, does actually look quite small.
As said, LCI2 is the sweet spot for me.

Hmm, might’ve guessed that sort of thing would be standard on the M135i, but didn’t know for sure.Invisiblename wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2019 3:17 pmI'm not getting at you for having a different opinion, and yes, I did miss the point you made that you're aware of the digital display (I take it you're also aware that the digital display is standard not optional in the M135i?)

Re: Analogue instruments pic.
The analogue display is a lot easier to read than the Mercedes Internet homepage of a dashboard. This of course has been BMW's thing for many many decades now. They look rather characterless to my eyes, being critical, a bit like a VW or Seat binnacle. But they are at least very clear, which may be a point lost on the "black mirror" generation.
Re: Analogue instruments pic.
I think the F40 is not too different from the LCI2 actually. It looks better in photos (which are hard to find since all press cars are fully speced!) than in the render I posted earlier. The main difference is the LCD screen and how it's integrated.
Differs between markets though. It is optional in Germany and Sweden, for example.Invisiblename wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2019 3:17 pmI'm not getting at you for having a different opinion, and yes, I did miss the point you made that you're aware of the digital display (I take it you're also aware that the digital display is standard not optional in the M135i?)

That looks much better, closer to the LCI2 dials.Weiman wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2019 6:53 pmI think the F40 is not too different from the LCI2 actually. I’m not a fan of the BMW digital dash; I don’t see why they had to make the dials a silly shape. I think the Audi version is better / cleaner (although it wasn’t enough to convince me to buy a Golf R over my 140).
The Merc dash does give some wow factor initially but talking to a friend who’s wife has one, it’s actually quite distracting to live with, especially at night. He says that they got sucked into the hype in the showroom but in reality it gives too much info that’s in your face a bit.

I was starting to think I was the only person on the planet who dislikes the A Class dash so good to see I’m not alone
In the YouTube videos when it’s being reviewed all I can see is the reflection of the person filming so god knows what it’s like to read in direct sunlight and I imagine distracting at night
I actually found the VC in my S4 distracting at night and there didn’t seem to be a way of adjusting the brightness. Rarely is there negative feedback on Audi’s VC was bough so maybe that was just me!
It’s good to see an oil temp gauge on both the standard and digital versions of the new 1 series dash

I think stuff like the Merc screens look fab when you’re in a showroom / first get in it just because they’re so radical different to most other things. I also think they’ll be quite distracting at night, which is echoed by my friend’s experience having lived with one for a while.Gary_LB wrote: ↑Wed Aug 14, 2019 11:36 amI was starting to think I was the only person on the planet who dislikes the A Class dash so good to see I’m not alone

Re: Analogue instruments pic.
Are you sure it's am oil temp gauge? I thought the symbol suggested it was coolant temp? Happy to be proven wrong
