My local dealer is doing the m135 for £419 with no deposit for a short period on a pcp. Prices already coming down?

They have been from day 1. This is BMW!

I assume that’s over 4 years, so once you dig a little deeper into the figures, it’s not actually a very good deal. Just a way of getting people to take on more credit.
F40 M135i - 4 wheels, headlights, engine, cigarette lighter, windscreen wipers, horn, rubber boot mat, dog guard.
KTM 1290 - 2 wheels, engine, seat.

There's a few lease deals floating around too. Seen one for £369pcm with a £369 deposit, 36 months and 8k mileage pa. For a base spec car though.
Now: F21 M140i
My past BMWs: F21 M135i | F20 120d Sport | E46 M3 | E46 325Ci Sport | E90 320d SE | E87 118d Sport

Not a case of prices coming down really... that will only happen once BMW start to add some deposit contribution in.
Dealers margin is fixed from the outset and most of us dealers have been doing strong deals from the outset.
But what tends to happen is that the saving is diluted by a drop in the GFV payment, As most of us only look at the monthly payments we fail to notice
how strong the GFV is currently on the M135i. At present they are £2500 higher than the outgoing M140.
£419 deposit and £419pm is achievable for a base model car - for a PCP that's as cheap as these can currently get.

What will make pre-reg M135i easy sell is that, unlike the F20 or F30, the base car is very well equipped with:

-Pro Nav
-Icon Headlights
-Head seats
-F&R parking sensors
-Folding Mirrors
-Cruise control
-Apple CarPlay
-Auto Transmission

The term "base spec" doesn't have the same meaning as for the predeccessor. Bigger alloys, H&K or Adaptive Suspensions are the only big reasons to factory order, but those options are hardly deal breaking for most consumers if the finance offer is right and a car is sitting in front of them.

BMW have done a fantastic job equipping the G-Series car. When I bought a used F30 in 2014, finding a decent equipped one was like searching for a needle in a haystack. A significant percentage of cars I came across only had M-Plus package and nothing else.
Cars:
-19' M140i SE, AW, MP LSD, Birds B1 Suspension(Adaptive delete), Heated Seats, Power Folding Mirrors, F&R PDC, Rev.Camera

-19' X3 20i M-Sport, Adaptive Suspenion, Pro Nav, Icon Headlights, Parking Assist Plus, Power Folding Mirrors

It's the way car use is going. In America, options have been severely restricted traditionally, because the leasing model has predominated for decades and dealers don't want to be stuck with idiosyncratic cars they own but won't be able to resell. "Base" speck plus three options reduces choice and sustains retained values. And customers like it!

When I bough my E46 I specified Alpine white - heh, in 2002! - mulberry leather, if anyone's old enough to remember that, downgraded the 18" Spawt wheels to 17" and ignored the factory sat nav (£2,100, ho ho). Everyone around me seemed so very concerned about value retention ; they must have mistakenly thought that I owed them money :rotfl:

Well it didn't take long but I can now officially say I like the new car, the question I guess is how long until I order one ?

I only went to the garage to test drive the m135i and came home telling the Mrs I had bought one brand new, from stock and that was the tough part. 😱

It gets easier with practice. It’s not my 1st time I’ve done this and in all honesty she doesn’t care as long as I’m happy and boy I am happy 🤩
