Crawler Bots are the issue.
I have come across many crawler bots hitting the site which puts too much load on the server.
I've been grabbing the details and IP addresses of them and putting measures in place.
Majority appear to be coming from China....no idea why they are wanting to crawl the site.......

I've been chasing IP's for most of the night and have tried an alternative approach to blocking them.
Initially I was blocking their access to the site, however, although that seemed to work, they were still putting a load on the server.
I'm now trying an alternative that prevents them even accessing anything on the server, therefore no additional load.

It will be a case of wait and see and I will keep an eye out.

Apologies all.

Website seems normal to me today. By that I mean pages load in a couple of seconds at the most, but replying to a thread takes about 15-20 seconds for the message to be processed after pressing 'post reply'. It's been like that for as long as I can remember. Firefox/Win7.

Thanks for the response. There may need to be a bit of optimisation on the data see required.

The site itself seems fast but whenever I post a reply (like this one will no doubt) they take approx 30 seconds to go through ?

Just remember to not keep hitting the post button.

There seems to be many other forums experience the same attack.

Tapatalk seems to be slow aswell. Usuable but not great.

Ever thought about switching to xenforo ? I have one forum on it and it very fast and always working fine, just shy of 6k members but server is never above 5% load.

Tapatalk is highly advised to be not used.
Everywhere on line will talk about how they don’t follow the rules writing their code. They have submitted it for security checks and failed, but failed to rectify it.

I’ve always threatened to remove it as the site is responsive to all devices, but so many people seem to use it, change would be a bad thing to them.
