New Z4 M40i collected

Post by MAW73 »

Collectded my new Z4 M40i last week which replaces a 440i GC. Previous to this I had both the F20 125i and the M135i.

I'm absolutely loving the Z4. Its such a fun and very capable car to drive. The interior is beautiful place to be, the driving postion is low down and its also very refined and comfortable. Sports Plus mode is very addictive and their are lots of exhaust pops and crackles on the downshift. It feels absolutely glued to the road and very much like a mid engined car to drive. The ZF works brilliantly also in this car and the B58 feels like a completely different animal in this compared to my outgoing 440i GC.

The Z4 M40i is very well spec'd but I went for the additoonal Technology Pack, the Comfort Pack and the Black Pack.

Its a bit of a change of course from a 440i GC. The wife recenly got an SUV which is now for family and dog ferrying duties so I thought what the hell lets go for something different.

What's the noise levels like in the cabin especially at motorway speeds?

Not bad at all. It feels still very refinined on the motorway with the hood up of course. Obviously something like my 440iGC was quieter but its certainty no deal breaker and doesn't bother me at all. 70% of my commute to work is motorway so I test drove the Z4 on all different roads before placing an order for one.

Massive congrats! If you have an opportunity to buy a two seater and have blessing from your other half, then go for it. I saw one like yours at my local dealer with oyster interior and the all black exterior looked ace!!

To honest, I could have as the M140i is our "second" car which means that there is usually only 1 person in it with the backseat only being put to use once every 20th journey.

Unlikely as my M140i has an LSD, adaptive suspension and non runflat tyres like Z4 but weigh 150kg less so it would be too much of a sideways move. I have only had it for 6 weeks and love it so much that I have called off buying a 992 Carrera S in 3-4 years and am aiming for something more viceral like a 997 to own along side it.

Regarding the Z4. I find it a some special place to sit then the heavy 8Series which has a generic looking interior.

I like these, they certainly look much better in the flesh than they did in the press shots. The interior looks like a fab place to be.

Lol I was about to post a similar comment. That is the cleanest garage I’ve ever seen!
