Removing and replacing fronts seats E91

Post by MontegoBlue » Sat Oct 07, 2017 8:03 pm

Hi,

I have purchased a new interior (seats/doorcards) for my BMW E91 2012.

Fitted rear bench and seats today, all went in fine.

Stalling on the front drivers and passengers...This seems easy enough...but I am a little scared, I don't know why...just airbags etc.

So what I have read:

- Disconnect battery (negative off and wrapped) for 15/20mins

- Remove 4 T50 bolts & seatbelt them unplug airbag harness...then simply reverse with new seats

- Reconnect battery and hope for no airbag errors

Is this basically it or do I run the risk of an airbag going off now or in future...

Any help would be helpful thanks

Airbags need power to detonate.

Battery disconnect, and drain any residual current with the headlights, and that's pretty safe, imo.

Thanks Marco, that seems ok to do then, just airbags scare me - no chance of them detonating when ignition fired up when I reconnect everything? im more use to cars without them pre 1972 :)

They shouldn't behave any differently to your old seats.
