Very nice :)

We'll take this car back there at some point too 8)
I recognise that bit, but then it all looks that amazing doesn't it!

I do like the 987, but only wanted one about 50%. When the 981 came out I loved the look, but it wasn't until the GTS became available, that I 100% had to have one
All the things I'd want to mod and improve on a BMW, even on an ///M car, are already done, or fitted as options 8)
Perfect :)

Traction is sooooooo overrated though where's the fun in having traction .......

I'm looking forward to wrestling 400hp with crossply tyres and drum brakes
I bet you are

The Cayman has always been about huge poise, traction and neat tidy driving for me. It's not so grippy that it never moves around, but it does that in such a progressive manner too. Quite grown up and very lovely 8)

The 135i was a bit of a handful in 1st and 2nd, even with the LSD. It was the one glaring weakness of the chassis at that power level!

I don't love that car any less, but am enjoying the 'new' contrasting style and quality of performance. I think a 275 on the back of the 1er might have been needed, but might have messed up the excellent handling!

If I'd moved into a V8 AMG or Mustang/Camaro type thing, I'd have been quickly frustrated!

That's a lovely example actually! 8)
Did the Cayman S replace your 130i?

No, have both in my quiver - totalling 6.4 litres and 12 cylinders. Such different characters too and I like both for different reasons. One thing I have worked out is the bmw paint is more robust than Porsches and gives a better shine after the obligatory 3 hours of prep and polish each year. ( and each bloody car too)

It's a gen 2 and has the lsd which I thought wouldn't be necessary on a Mid engined car but was very helpful on those endless hairpins up the Alps.

And I always thought that BMW's paint was the softest.

At least our cars are little, ha ha!
We will do a proper hand polish job in the spring, as the Cayman already acquired some swirls courtesy of the dealer.

Well it's been a year already (last Sunday)

We've had loads of nice drives and covered just under 13k miles. Every one of them has been a joy! 8)
Such an amazing car in performance, looks and quality :)

No second thoughts about the colour scheme inside or out. It's lovely and draws a bit of attention from time to time. In a good way too :)

Sleepy lane hoggers even move over more, which is nice! Some just don't want a fast red pointy car bearing down on them, some just want to have a look / listen as we go past. Either way, it can make motorway driving in the UK a little less annoying.
Contary to popular belief, we also get let out of side turnings more often / quickly too.

There's so much luggage space for two as well. When we're off away somewhere, we just have one end each and have space for more. We even took fold up chairs to Spa last autumn. (Off there again soon for the classic 6hr event, if anyone else is going)

There was one return to the dealer early on, for a squeaky seat and window limit, but otherwise it's been fault free motoring. We used one litre of oil just after running in and another 500ml sinse then, so no worries there.

Iva has seen 150mph on the Autobahn, but I wasn't there :(
Perhaps I'll get to have a go next spring on a visit to see her Mum in the Czech Republic.

I had a pair of rear tyres fitted today. More of the same P-Zero NO to match the front. Next time it'll need a full set, so hope there's a Porsche aproved Michelin option to try by then.
My 135i went through tyres exactly twice as fast, so this has been a refreshing change. Although at 265/35/20 I'm glad they last better!!!

Mods.....
Well I did say when new it was more than enough car for me as standard......
The sports chassis is firm but forgiving, the exhaust open/closed valve is perfect and sounds epic

I still stand by that comment about not needing mods.......almost
There has been one single non Porsche aproved modification recently.

The front was just too open, causing so many people to need new rads!
So I used the CaymanOC 20% off at Zunsport for a full set of front grills. They fit really well and remove the radiator Russian roulette, that I felt motorway driving was becoming.

So all in all, I'd say it a big thumbs up from us! It's a keeper 8) 8) 8)

I would just add that the rear tyres lasted so long most probably and only because half the time, when it's my turn, I pootle along to the station and back.

You need to get some practice in with the LSD doing doughnuts in the station car park then Iva - that'll even up your rear tyre wear competition with Rob

Extremely late to this show, but must say what an impressive looking car that is, so congratulations to you both Rob and Iva.

Like Marco, you have revived envy in me, but I'm glad for you both that after a year it's become a keeper.

Sorry I won't be seeing you on the Romp in a couple of weeks, but another time no doubt.

Correct Rob :)

Was at the dealer today, getting my tyres sorted out and they had an M2 ready to be picked up by some lucky guy. He'd specced an MP exhaust and carbon tips, plus loads of carbon inside as well. Long Beach Blue with black leather upholstery.

Not my colour, but looked very muscular and typically 'M' it has to be said, despite what the inevitable detractors say!
