My E87 118d.

Post by E87Gaz » Mon Apr 15, 2019 7:42 pm

Finally got my lowering springs fitted (front only) so I’m now pretty happy with how it looks.
Open to ideas for little tweaks etc.

Fitted M Sport bumpers & side skirts.
Flat bottomed steering wheel from Royals.
Custom twin tips.
3SDM wheels.
Gold coloured callipers, dust caps, wheel nut covers and engine cover.
BMW darkline rear lights.
BMW performance strut brace.
BMW performance gearknob.
Stubby aerial.
Rear windows tinted.

I have been wanting to change my standard exhaust tip on the 118d. Where did you get your custom exhaust tip...looks great.

Just from a local exhaust specialist. They had to send out for them custom making to my liking but put them onto my standard backbox for me.
All in less than £100.

Thats looking very tidy.

One bit of possible advice, are those dust caps metal? If so, they have a nasty habit of welding themselves onto the valves if you’re not careful - several people on here have found out the hard way. I’m not sure if a smear of grease on the valve threads might help or not (I’ve been experimenting with ceramic brake grease on stainless bolts for external applications over the last couple of years to prevent galling, and its been successful so far).
E87 118d, stock, plus PDC control unit drain, Parrot, debadged, Mothercare baby shades (but no babies), and occassionally a good layer of wax. Instantly forgettable, and thats the way I like it.

Not long now until the end of May...

Hello.

Thanks for that.
Yes they are metal, and I’ve dabbed a little bit of copper grease on them.

I like this, paintwork looks in great shape and I'm guessing you work at BMW must be handy for cheap parts. Looks wise it's pretty much spot on maybe some slightly darker headlights or retrofit xenons.

Ideas for mods would be remap, uprated brakes, short shift kit, m3 gearbox mounts, BMW performance bumpstops and eibach lowering springs with bilstein shocks. Some reasonably priced mods and some expensive ones.

Also could always look at upgrading the audio to the alpine retrofit or logic 7 stuff

Thanks for the kind words.
I’ve thought about Xenons etc but don’t like the look of a lot of aftermarket ones and I’ve tried to keep it looking OEM.
I may look at tinting the lights slightly.
