Interesting, thanks for that as I have some lacquer to go on top but was leaning towards not bothering - I will now tho!
Yeah mines the eBay stuff, same as yours? https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre ... 2612806017
Not the same as what I got, but similar, was a couple of years ago when I painted mine. A high temp clear coat should protect most paints I think, some are rated to 450C. Idk why I thought a normal bodywork clear would handle hundreds of degrees

If you do decide to do a clear coat, I'd suggest spraying a test piece with your base colour then trying the lacquer on that first. Some paints/clears can react with each other and ruin your hard work.
Yes - I've seen that happen before! I think for road use a normal lacquer is usually fine, track work and it's a different story!

I might just bang a load more coats on and leave it as is: its meant to be a standalone caliper paint so it should be fine in theory. Hopefully it turns out a bit glossier! And yes - top tip about testing the clear coat, I've fallen for that before

Brakes now done, just waiting for a day at my brother’s unit to get them all fitted. So freshly painted calipers, stainless bleed screws, stainless lines, new discs pads all round and flushed with RBF600 fluid.

Had the Blackline LSD installed last week. This is a direct copy of the Quaife but about half the cost! Same fitment etc. I had the 2 side bearings replaced at the same time and all went back together a dream. Yet to give it a proper

Did front brakes yesterday, ran out of time for rears so will do those next week.

Bit of a sh*t job as both hardpipes were seized so had to cut them further up and repair with a new copper piece. Good job I bought all the flaring tools beforehand!

Those look spot on! Good thing you planned for the hard lines too haha.

If they don't seem to want to bleed properly I posted elsewhere about using INPA to do it which sorted mine right out, here's a link.

Looking good :)

What fitting did you use for splicing the new piece of brake line in and where did you get them ? noticed on my mr2 trackcar at weekend while servicing it that the rear hardline is a little crusty where it goes upto flexi fitting like yours, i want to get a new piece crafted in and ive got a flaring tool just need fittings etc now :)

Used these female connectors to join the two pipes:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5-x-Female-B ... 2749.l2649

Then just a standard male fitting onto each bit of pipe and you're good to go! I'd have preferred (and might do in future) to just pull the whole pipe and remake it in copper. Couldn't see where the end went tho, and couldn't be arsed to pull the arch liner and look

Spot on thanks. on fronts i think that hardpipe goes all the way around engine bay upto the ABS block, the complete pipe will be available from BMW and generally not to bad price just the hassle of fitting it i guess!, i bought the hardpipe that goes across the rear subframe on my last 130i and was less than £30 delivered but much easier to fit than one that going into engine bay!

Got the rear brakes done yesterday. Took me all bloody day! The hard brake lines on these are a real pig. Ended up again making new ones and replacing with copper. Very time consuming with limited access to get the flaring tool in place etc.

Not had chance to bed them in yet, but they do look pretty :P

Also purchased a set of Team Dynamics 1.2s, and bought a full set of Pilot Sport 4s a while back so should make a nice set up. Will flog the standard 208Ms I think. Coming along nicely!
