This weather is dong my head in; I’m sick of my car looking sh*t. It looks nice today after a wash and a coat of quick detailer but no doubt, it’ll look rubbish by the time I get home tomorrow night. It’s got a few stubborn tar spots too...roll on March for hopefully a detailing day.

More importantly, have you had the new back box fitted?

Because roads have been wet pretty much every morning this month, I kept my car garaged much of last week and used the already dirty family car to drive around. It's a shame that the rear end of the M140i is an utter filth magnet.

Unfortunately the modded backbox was damaged during transit and will be collected this week so that a refund is issued. It's uneconomical for me to have the badly dented inlet tube repaired, and I don't want to risk a botched installation. I will take the car to PCW Mods for a backbox only mod.

Bummer about the back box.

Will you mid your stock one or buy a used one with the sole intention of having it fiddled with?

I’ve managed to drive to work today and my car stay clean! It looked nice in the sun at lunchtime especially in a sea of filthy cars.

That’s a pity about the backbox. Was interested to see what difference it made to the sound.

Know what you mean about trying to keep it clean. This is only 5 days worth of dirt, and it is even dirtier now as that was taken on Saturday night.

The worst conditions are when it's not raining but the roads are between damp and wet.

Yeah, the relentless damp roads have been awful. It’s finally dried up this week...until Sunday at least.

Fancy a modded back box too at some point. I’ve got to fit the brace first and get my H+R springs fitted so it’ll have to wait.

Since my car is nearly "finished" I thought I should share of summary of what I have spent.

The 32% discount on the factory order gave me great head room for enhancement. I recognise that the below bits are not cheap. However as a whole with the mods, the car feels incredible value for money.

With the LSD 0-62mph is around 4.5sec and the way that this car handles on B roads and hit triple digits on motorways makes it the ultimate sleeper.

Chassis
M Performance Limited Slip Differential: £2,500
Birds B1 Suspension Springs and Dampers: £2,200
BMW Underbody Brace: £200
Total: £4,800

Exterior
Maxton spoiler cap: £100
Reiger Diffuser: £300
AutoID M-style mirror housing: £220
Tint wrap for wing mirror indicators: £3
Plasti-dip spray for front bumper canards/surrounds: £8
Total: £631

Interior
Red starter button: £4
Alcantara Royal Steering wheel: £200
Total: £204

Sub total for enhancements: £5,635

Car purchase price from new: £28,000
Total spend: £33,635
Cars:
-19' M140i SE, AW, MP LSD, Birds B1 Suspension(Adaptive delete), Heated Seats, Power Folding Mirrors, F&R PDC, Rev.Camera

-19' X3 20i M-Sport, Adaptive Suspenion, Pro Nav, Icon Headlights, Parking Assist Plus, Power Folding Mirrors

It does! When I bought the car I never envisioned spending a single penny on mods. It has been worth it. With a total spend of £34k for the car and mods, the car now has a handling and comfort balance that is superior to cars that cost twice a much. Furthermore it's light, chuckable, works with family life and is not expensive to run.

With the LSD, Underbody brace and Birds B1 Suspension, it's honestly one of the very best cars I've ever driven. It will take one very incredible car to lure me out of this one.

It genuinely looks great! I'd love to go all in on an LSD for mine but i think i'd probably rather put the money towards a different car. The diffuser is something i do really want to do though.

Thanks! I washed the car not the eve of the photoshoot. However it then rained overnight making my car filthy on my way to the location. However, an unscheduled and quick dive into a car wash 5min away from the shooting location restored glamour!

Your photos or form a photographer? They’re good either way.

Please tell me you didn’t stick it through a machine scratch, sorry wash?

A photographer shot the photos.

I went to a £7 hand wash just 15min after they had opened. Their water and shampoo solution was fresh.

Cool; they’re really nice pics.

Only joking about the wash; the detailing sections on car forums has ruined me / turned me into a nerd!
