Great write up David. Would you be kind enough to post the eBay link for the mirror covers. :)

Great update Dave 👍

That must be a bit of a beast with all that power, must get some times done to see how much it’s improved!

Does Ian do much with the baby m’s?

Why didn’t you get him to tune it?
Cheers mate. Yes Iain ran his own M235i and has an M2.
As I wrote, somebody has only just hacked the B58 and nobody has yet brought a remap to open market.
I'll wait for Iain to get to grips with it, then yes, I probably will try out a remap and do a back to back comparo between JB4 and custom remap.
Should be interesting.

A couple of quick vids.

Lovely motor mate!

How did you remove the Maxton logos from your splitter and spoiler? Are they just glued on?

Cheers,
Paul
I'm looking on getting an M140i myself and am just looking at what mods to do

Saw you trundle past me at the Brookwood Sainsbury's traffic lights this afternoon, exhaust note is definitely noticeable :) Didn't get much chance to look at the mods but it did look a fair bit lower than most.

Interestingly, it has not been lowered at all, bar the M4 LCAs on the front which lowers the front very slightly.
The bodykit of course visually lowers the car, but has never caused any ground clearance issues.

I absolutely love the Akrapovic system. Gives the car so much more character without making it sound like a boy-racer-mobile.

Thanks Paul. Yes I just asked Valet Magic who installed the kit to remove the logos. They are just stuck on, no holes.

Long time no update.

So, 14 months on and I love this car more than ever.

I took it down to Litchfield last week and Iain custom mapped it with the following results: 450bhp and 444lb.ft!
Significantly higher than the JB4 managed, and more importantly the power delivery is smooth and progressive, just as if it had come from the factory.

Not knocking the JB4 and it has its advantages, e.g. being able to switch maps on the phone app etc. But it can't beat a remap and it would be unrealistic to expect it to.

I then took it to Rockingham Motor Speedway (which is sadly closing its gates soon for the last time) and had my first (and therefore last) track day there on Saturday in the company of TRL, Joe Achilles, Queen B and various other reprobates.

It had rained all day Friday and most of the morning and the track was incredibly greasy, like a skid pan.
Needless to say, 450hp was barely deployed, but the smooth linear power delivery allied to the Quaife and M4 LCAs Litchfield had fitted previously made it the most fun track day I've ever done in 30-odd years of track driving.

Here's a vid of me driving Joe Achilles (and his giant furry parka hood that obscures most of my GoPro) around for a few laps before he started to feel sick, partially from motion sickness, partially from fear and partially from laughing too much!

Akra sport cat too. Probably accounted for a good chunk of the extra power before the JB4.
