Dino's Sapphire Black M2

Post by dino355 » Fri Mar 23, 2018 2:52 pm

Well after two years of lusting after one of these and changing my mind several times, my personal circumstances along with some seriously epic man maths means I've done a deal on a brand new M2.

Spec:

2018 M2 LCI
Sapphire Black
DCT 7 speed
Reversing assist camera
Sun protection glass
Exterior mirrors folding with anti dazzle
Electric front seats with driver memory
Heated front seats
High-beam assistant
BMW Icon Adaptive LED headlights
Harmon Kardon Hi-Fi

Whilst not my absolute ideal spec, (would have liked a heated steering wheel and Apple CarPlay) the car was in stock at my favourite dealers (Specialist Cars in Stevenage) and the deal was hard to ignore. At present if you want a new M2 you are spoilt for choice with BMW AUC having several new but pre registered cars.

This unregistered car was initially offered to me but the deal was more expensive so I found a pre reg car elsewhere (Cooper York BMW) without Icon Adaptive lights and with manual seats, AppleCar play, WiFi, Extended Bluetooth with wireless charging.

I'd almost committed to buying that when I rang Specialist Cars, who were holding a deposit from me for an M2 Competition/CS for the last two years. So I told them I won't be buying a CS as I felt that it will be too expensive and with it being a new model there won't be any deals to be had. Whilst they we're happy to refund my deposit they asked 'Is there anything we can do to keep your business and you buy a car from us?' After a few phone calls from them and me standing firm on my demands they eventually agreed to match the deal with the aforementioned pre-reg car.

Happy days, I got a brand new '18 reg (not a '67) with a better spec.

Can't wait to pick it up next week. Finally back in an M car after a two year hiatus. Not sure if I'll be modding it too much but for those of you that know me....well it's hard to break the habit of a lifetime eh?

Very nice! I'm seriously starting to look at the M2s, but unlike you I'll be seeking a 16 plate to bring the price down. 135i to be sold.

I was mulling a M235i + Birds bits including LSD

Look forward to seeing pictures.

Pics added :-)

So I collected the car today, all went well apart from spotting two creases in the bodywork, one in the door and one in the rear arch. Luckily their paintless dent removal man was on site and he sorted them both which was mighty impressive given that the rear arch one was very close to the crease. There is also some kind of chip or mark on one of the sills and also a tiny scratch on the front bumper but they've agreed to sort all that when it goes in for its running in service

Wow what a car, took my boys out in it after I collected them from school. They went nuts when they saw it (I told them I was getting a 2 series.....I didn't say which one!) My Mrs on the other hand didn't show their enthusiasm, I FaceTimed her as she is away on a training course and she said....."It looks just like the last one...." (e90 335d) bloody women!

There is too much to take in at the moment but the one thing that sticks in my mind is that the sound the exhaust makes is intoxicating, we were driving around with windows open!

Can't wait to take this on a road trip to Europe....

Congrats Dino!
I wouldn't worry too much about the mark on the front bumper, the first one is always noticeable, and upset me when I spotted one on mine. One year later and the front end is peppered with battle-scars!
