Shiny new M140i

Post by plectrumman » Tue May 08, 2018 6:08 pm

Hi all, I've just taken delivery of my shiny new Sunset Orange M140i Shadowline Edition, so I thought I'd pop up a few piccies and try and join in with the community!
I'm a long time follower of the forum (signed up in 2008 when I got my first 1 series) and I love what you've built here - it's incredibly helpful, and I've borrowed heavily from your great advice and info in the 10 days since "Shere Khan" arrived (yes, it's orange and black and growls - so I call it Shere Khan.)

So far I've fitted a Dash Cam (thanks to the forum for advice on how to do so tidily), used BimmerCode to code in a few tweaks (including Dual bluetooth handsets at once - thanks forum, £350 saved) and relaced the original mirror caps with black, which I think is more in keeping with the Shadowline trim, especially on the Sunset Orange.

I'm in lve with the colour and the sound, and whilst I've not really nailed the pedal to the floor that hard yet, what I have experienced is utterly stunning. I can't imagine a better car.

Anyway - enought talk - here are some piccies.

And here are a couple of the interior pics. I'm really pleased with the Oyster - it lightens it up somewhat!

Lastly, a couple of accessory shots - and a salient reminder to be careful when playing with wing mirrors - especially auto-dimming ones!

I'd like at some poin to continue the Black accessory theme, and get a bit of a front splitter and plssoibly sills going on. Also a rear cam to cnnect to the Nextbase once they are available (allegedly next week). I'll post updates as I go if anybody is interested.

What do people think of the Sunset Orange? I;m smitten - but then I did choose it!

Thanks

Love the colour. You can also get a stealth mount for the nextbase cams, unsure if it keeps the GPS mind. Don't see the big deal with gps as it's not going to work in your favour.

Wow, loving it...!!

My own Sunset Orange M140i SE is due to arrive around the first week of June and I'm getting pretty excited now. Like yours, it's a 5 door Auto with Oyster leather. I went for the other wheels though. I loaded it up with nearly every option bar the comfort opening and electric seats.

I do agree with you the Oyster really breaks up the dark interior. I currently have a 125d M Sport with dark headlining and no sunroof and it is very dar inside. Fortunately I broke that up just a little by having the coral red leather. I do think the Oyster looks even better now and quite classy if you don't mind. That new cognac colour looks awesome on the Black 140's too.

The dealer is fitting stainless foot rest and pedals and painting the canards and mirror caps Gloss Black for me, although I'm toying with the idea of altering this slightly so that the mirror caps are done in Sunset Orange. That said, your SO with Black mirror caps looks killer!

after handover I'm hoping to run it straight up to Motech for installation of a Maxton front splitter and matching side skirts in gloss black, as well as the 'Motech Stance'. Then it's going in for a new car detail with crystal serum ceramic coating at KDS in Kent which is close to home.

I've bought the M Performance Alcantara/Carbon steering wheel plus the carbon auto gear selector and surround which I'll install myself when everything else is done. After that I'm fitting the new Blackvue DR900S 2-CH cameras and a few coding tweaks using Bimmercode.

Finally, the exhaust tone is likely to require some form of improvement, although i do prefer refined over being too loud and shouty. Not really looking for mass loads of pops and bangs, just a nice deep tone, so thinking of just having the front oval silencer chopped out and see how that works out before contemplating anything further.

Gutted for you with the wing mirror, hope you get that sorted soon enough. How did it get cracked, was it whilst getting the caps off?

Anyway, keep the pics coming fella...

FYI there should be a cigarette lighter socket under the passenger glovebox.

nice, very nice indeed

Oyster would be my leather of choice, but happily settled for red on this occasion.

Ooh, thanks for that Nathan - I'll look at that. I quite like having the GPS trace for looking back at where you've gone and what happened - but I take the point that recording tyour speed isn't necessarily of benefit!

I had Coral Red in my black F36 absolutely loved it, and I found it kept all the drama "inside" the car, for my consumption; always felt like a special place to sit. I couldn't get red on the Shadowline (I think they've tweked some of the colours, e.g. Valencia Orange to Sunset Orange) so I decided I'd have drama on the outside and keep the inside a it more luxurious looking with the Oyster and Piano black. Quite happy with it!

Thanks for this Un1eash. I need to try and find that - no joy from a quick rummage. Any hints? I've also read about a USB port in the glovebox, but not had any joy finding that yet either!

Thanks

Man, that sounds like you have some big plans - I really look forward to seeing it as you get it all done. Mine's a lease unfortunately, so I'm somewhat limited to what I can do; superficial only. I do want to replace/wrap the canards though, and I think the splitter will be an option, I'll have to see. Sorted the wing mirror out for £60 from eBay - phew!

Not too long til the 1st June now!

The sunset orange is nice, think i still prefer the valencia orange though, but i think that has been replaced by sunset now anyway! If i update from the f20 to an LCI then it's likely i'll be looking for one in valencia orange...

Tis a lovely example you have though, gratz!
