AP Coilovers, opinions?

Post by Jeo » Fri Apr 20, 2018 1:34 pm

Desperately want to lower my car an E87 120d... I've been deliberating between the B12 Kit with Sportline springs vs the Pro springs...

However Sporlines are too low, and the Pro Kit doesn't go quite low enough, as I'm after a balance between handling and looks..

I found AP Coilovers are £500 so about the same price as the B12 kit, + £250 to fit/align.

Does anyone have any experience with the AP Coilovers on a 1 Series? Would this be a good buy?

I had them previously on a mk4 Golf about 8 years ago and couldn't fault them the ride was firm, but not sure how they are on the E8x

Thanks all

I did find this viewtopic.php?t=71695 and notice they are practically the same as KW's

AP's are just KW's with slightly different damping - i had them on my R32 and they were fine.
Same factory, same coilover body, etc etc etc. Just like the difference between a Golf and an A3 tbh.

Had them a year now and all good, rides really good I think but these are my first coilover. My only problem with them is that the rears don’t go very low but the fronts you can slam. Image

:P That looks great mate, rears low enough IMO...

I'm looking to change before end of year so all mods are out the window now...

Strange to see AP being similar to KW.

Here in Germany, ST is owned by KW. Same production line, springs, dampening etc only difference is that KW is made from stainless steels and ST is galvanized zinc plated.

They do look identical in every way to KW, however i never asked my local KW dealer in Germany about AP, but he does carry ST brand as well.
