10mm front spacers.

Post by Torquey » Sat Dec 22, 2018 2:50 pm

Hi, was contemplating fitting the m3 lca modification to my 15 plate 135i to help sharpen the steering and make the front feel more planted. I spoke to birds who fitted my b1 series suspension and they recommended just fitting 10 mm spacers to the front, has anybody any experience of this?

M4 LCA's are the proper way to do it, as they gain you camber and better bushes. Spacers are a cheapo bodge that will ruin your scrub radius.

Thanks for reply Marco. Would Cotwold bmw be the best place to purchase m4 lca’s, any idea of cost?

Most people buy Lemforder arms (who supply BMW), rather than paying BMW's mark-up.

Something like https://m.buycarparts.co.uk/lemforder/9664290

Ok great, thanks for your help. So after getting lca fitted I’ll need to get the wheel alignment done. What alignment settings do they need to be set up at if that’s not a stupid question.

Same Toe angles as stock, assuming you're happy with that. I like mine almost parallel for a sharper turn-in, but it makes them a little twitchy at speed.

Camber and Caster aren't adjustable.

Can someone please confirm these are the correct items I’m about to order for my 135i (m4 LCAs)
Buycarparts, lemforder track control arms 38258 01 & 38259 01. Thanks

They are M4 LCA's.

Don't forget the ball joint from an M4 Xenon Reg rod and M6 nut, per the M-Lite FAQ Sticky, post 5

10mm front spacers.

Whats your arch gap measurement now you’ve fitted the lower arms? Ive previously been given the distance on just birds springs from the centre of the front arch to the centre cap on the wheels.

Measured from the bottom of the wing to the TOP of the centre cap recess on the alloy. Front was 303 mm and the rear was 310 mm

Would be good to compare how low the front is now to give an idea on what the arms drop the car by.
