Just wondering if anyone has any experience painting exhaust tips, was hoping for a Matte black finish on them, but they are currently stainless steel silver,
Do they need primer, do they need sanding, and what temp paint do I need to buy?
Did exactly that with my MPE tips bud. I bought BBQ paint at B&Q by the fireplace section. Just give the tips a good clean.
Gave it around 4-5 layers and then popped it in the oven for 15-20 mins at 120 degrees. Will finish in matt black as you wanted.
Finished the tips off with rim protector. Sorry for the dirty car but that's how it looks 🤤

No pal, didn't sand them, just gave it a good clean. Just start light on the first few coats!
I've had them on for around 1.5 months now and it's doing just fine
You can buy proper VHT paint for exhaust headers, but that's probably overkill, but these paints are surprisingly good - I had a bike years ago that I used to paint the headers with VHT paint and they would last ages in really nice condition, and they get exposed to way more heat than the tips ever will, so no issues there.
Also, don't use primer as mentioned. The paint is designed to go straight onto bbq's/stoves etc and is pretty tough.

There is some very high tech paint out there called Ceracote.
The US military use it on there sniper rifles ap part of there camouflage.
I had some parts done on a gun I once used.
Basically Matt black paint with ceramic impregnated in to the paint. Looks amazing.
Google Ceracote amazing stuff and looks really 😎
Best of luck Stumps
