So my F83 is currently insured as stock, as it is stock, but I've bought some spacers and just declaring the spacers alone on insurance takes the premiums from ~£650-750 to this:
What the...?! I'm 37, no points, no claims on record, 6 years NCB, nobody is paying this for insurance. So what are you guys doing? Just not declaring them?
I've deduced that anything which replaces OEM parts does the exact same thing i.e. declaring new springs. But a ECU chip barely affects the premium.
So basically don't use a comparison site if modifying the car in any way. The results don't surprise me.
Go directly to known modification friendly insurers and the premium will be far more reasonable.
Hmmm I called around to Sky (784) and Adrian Flux (1500), went on GoCompare without mods came to £615 with mods Adian Flux Direct came to £786. Those are monthly prices...
Spend the time and ring them up, saves me hundreds every year. Although past few years Admiral or Aviva have been far cheapest, especially of you can get a multi car
