Santa pod advice

Post by M140irocket » Tue Aug 07, 2018 11:53 am

I have just returned back from a weekend up Santa pod,My best time was 13.0seconds dead which I thought was pretty good for a stock 18 plate M140i with me and my mate in it with stuff in the boot 🤣. So the advice I’m after is could I get it under 12 seconds and what could I do. Plus I had over three quarters of a tank of fuel, so weight is what I could get rid of.

An easy extra oomph is a JB or Bluespark box.

Don't have a passenger and empty everything you don't need out of course next if you really want to go for improved times.

Cheers barney, would a suspension upgrade help with the initial takeoff or not, I’m thinking of getting two rear m140i wheels and putting extra sticky tyres on them with a bit wider tyre like a Toyo 888 or federal tyre, and the back seats seam quite heavy so they could go, I think with the tuning box I might wait for the remaps once they are done as maybe smoother. 👍

What was your terminal speed?

Losing your mate would gain you a couple of tenths. I wouldn't bother removing parts of the car and buying specialist rubber unless you're taking the 1/4 quite seriously.

Sub 12 is a hard to achieve. The only person I know who’s done it is a guy local to me. 11.9 in his 240i, decat and Bluespark, car empty and back seats removed. I’m not aware of anyone with a JB4 getting lower than 12.2

As above...
To get under 12s is going to take some doing.
Speedychuck got into the high 12s last year and his N54 was at Stage 2+
My brothers race Escort (285bhp, quaife sequential box and sub-1000kg) did an 11.9 a couple of years ago but he’s had quite a bit of practise

A stock Mx40i can get 12.7 and a Mx35i 12.9.

Shaving off 1 second takes a lot more effort than people would think.

Hello Kerr my terminal speed was 110.88 mph, I’ve only had the car a month 🤣 and did the run in period before I went so the car only had 1400 miles on it so hopefully will loosen up abit more.... I’m interested in the blue spark box and possibly a decat but don’t know which one to get is it the decat centre section or decat down pipe 🤷‍♂️? I’ve had a few scoobys and an e46 m3 and this is defo faster than them so I’m happy, but would like to hit a 12 or 11.9 but who knows it was the fit time I had done it and enjoyed it.
