In new year when im ready to think about fittin LSD I might see if I can organise a discount on Wavetrac from one of my customers who is a dealer for them, also I have a friend who did the Quaife install on my last 130 I will ask him about install pricing as well.
If there's a way of getting a Wavetrac and built up cheaper, I'd be interested too...or a Quaife... I'm really noticing the difference between the E-diff equipped 135i and the basic/open 130i set up.

I noticed the difference in the 135i as well which the E-diff works ok if yours smooth with it, certainly a lot better than 130i diff without it, shame only the 135i and 123d got the E-diff as far as im aware, I wonder if it can be coded in on the 130i as it can be coded out when fitting LSD on the 135i I know.
Labour to build the diff up shouldn't be so bad on 130i with its bolted ring gear, same on early auto (non-dct) 135i as well, as per your quote from Regal @ £160 just to install the diff into housing, ive asked my supplier for a price for me on the wavetrac but will see if any movement on buying a few more, they will have to come from states to get better price so if we can get a few then will help on shipping costs, don't think we will get down to quaife money though just depends how much margin they have, quaife comes in just under £1100 with the vat as your quote.
Birds charge a ridiculous amount for installation, even though it is a drive in drive out service.
I paid £120 inc VAT for my Quaife install and that included the labour for replacing the pinion and driveshaft diff carrier bearings which I had supplied.
This was with the diff supplied removed from the car.
If I had of wanted a drive in drive out service it would have been an additional £120 inc VAT.
I wrote about who I used in the thread below and would thoroughly recommend.
there are 3 types of diffs on beemers
*Small casing - type 168 - Normally 4 Cylinder Petrols come with these
*Medium casing - type 188 - Some of the Early 335i and 135i Auto come with these and most of the 6 cylinder petrol non turbo and 4 cylinder diesels come with these
*Large casing diff - type 210 is what came on the 135 and 335i manual and later model autos, also the 1M and M3 came with these
As for the 330d I am not sure what size casing it had
E9x and E8x diffs are basically the same
So you might need to change your diff and side shafts to the medium casing, possibly the propshaft coupler on the diff will also need to taken from the 120i diff so that you dont need to change the propshaft.
Hope it helps
