Depo Bi-Xenon Mod - No Longer Making

Post by TobyE82 » Sun Feb 28, 2016 8:07 pm

Jgalea and Twenny are the first two to get themselves a set of these, with many others now following! So feedback would be appreciated for others to know. (Think they have commented below).

The waiting list as it stands...

1) Gsxrollie1
2) Mark84
3) Ant_smiggy120d
4) Madtoady
5) Roundasapound
6) Stealth328ci
7) Mike_RS

First off, I am not a shop or business. I am a single guy who made himself a set of these and with a large number of requests from people asking for a set to be made for themselves, which I offered to do so. If a year down the line you run in to a problem for example, I may be willing to help out, but if you want more of a guarantee, that's where you go to a company offering these services. I had a set of these in during the winter for 5 months and never had an issue, but I can't guarantee this for every set I make. I test them before sending them and make them as well as I can. I must stress, this is just a diy project which I offer.

On to the options.

Depo Headlights - (£180). This price isn't a fixed price as stock levels change from suppliers and also the exchange rate from Germany varies. Usually you won't be able to find a set sub £200.

Silver set is your standard. £170.

Black is harder to get due to stock levels. £180.

I can spray the surrounds any colour for a fee of £20 to cover paint costs.

HID Kits are around £45. I don't really like supplying these as if you have an issue, it has to go back through me and just more hassle than it's worth. A decent place to buy from though is Carmodshop - who offer canbus error free units for BMW's.
H1 HID kit needed.

These prices include return postage.

Option 1 - Plain and simple - £95

A bi-xenon projector change

The projector takes a H1 bulb and they only have 1 prong. I've not yet been able to use an incandescent bulb with these projectors yet as the wiring will need changing to fit the 2-prong plug. It's far easier to use an HID kit as this converts it to the same wiring as usual. You're welcome to use your own kit and that will be cheaper for you - then just buy a new H1 bulb in your selected colour temperature.
Otherwise I can provide a new HID kit.

Option 2 - Ring change - £80

Upgrading the angel eyes to bright white

This is probably going to be a nobody option, as you can buy Depo V2's which bypasses this option. However, if you have a set of V1's with the spotty angel eyes and want a fresh look that have a consistent light, this is your option. The inner ring does look slightly brighter as the COB ring sits back a little further in the light reflecting out more. The outer ring is tight up against the outer shroud and so the light dispersed is slightly less - much like the OEM units. There is a slight yellow tinge which can only be noticed in daylight. Nighttime, these just look bright white. Any queries on this, just let me know.

Option 3 - Ring and Projector Change - £165

This option is pretty self explanatory. Combining the previous two into one. You will still be able to use your original full beam as well. Externally, they will look exactly the same as standard when off, but then the rings will be upgraded and projector upgraded.

Option 4 - The Full Works - £210

This option consists of having the rings changed to brighter ones, the projectors changed to the bi-xenon ones, the old full beam (inner reflector) mounted with a projector lens so it's in keeping with the factory Xenons - still with functionality of an LED bulb. The standard H7 halogen bulb won't fit as it's slightly too long. Not yet been able to source a shorter H7 filament bulb.

Any other options or if you have any questions - ask away.

Thanks,

Toby.

I'm waiting for mine to arrive, but all I can say at this point is that Toby is a top bloke. Updated me constantly, went out of his way to find the best postage option and worked on them during his free time ASAP. Really looking forward to receiving them and fitting them :)

Depo Bi-Xenon Mod - The List

Post by TobyE82 » Mon Feb 29, 2016 5:14 pm

To clear things up on how these work being bi-xenon.

Lights off.

Just a comparison of how OEM units look to mine. As close as you're going to get I reckon without buying the actual lights.

Is this mod a straight easy swap for the horrendous standard halogens ?

e.g. Plug and Play ?

What are the downsides ?

Price for each option ?

Delivery time ?

Hi mate, I might be interested in a set of these. Has the led rings been changed to brighter/better quality ones?

Depo Bi-Xenon Mod - Available here

Post by Twenny » Mon Feb 29, 2016 9:08 pm

Best option is to get exactly what I've had done -

£390 gets you -

• Brand new set of depos
• Complete bi Xenon retro fit
• New rings etc
• HID upgrade
• 4.8K halo lamps and main and dipped beam lamps to match.
• delivery

Bargain IMO

A plug and play swap!

No downsides as far as I know - apart from they aren't a genuine product. Haha.

Like Twenny said, he sent me £390 and I've sorted the whole shebang for him which are now are in the post.

I've been a bit delayed recently due to a delay on receiving the angel eye rings, but it's 10 hours work or there abouts for the whole job. Delivery, around 2 days in the UK.

These are the V1 depo's, so instead of the 4 halogen bulbs per ring, they are now COB led rings which provides a smooth consistent light.

These can be upgraded again to whatever fits really, bespoke to what you want...

For £390, that is an absolute bargain. The workmanship looks very high too, a true credit :)

Output is loads better than OEM Xenon's too!
2010 N43 - Gone. (kind of)
OEM Xenon's - Tablet Install - 135i Backbox - LED Darklines - Eibach Sportlines - Harmon Kardon - 208's

Now - 2012 520d :)
