Interesting thread chaps. I just flogged a civic ep3 track car. It came with a set of mich cups (the original ones). I used them just once and they took 2secs a lap off avon zzr's at brands Indy. Mega tyres. Given the zzr's are a bloody good semi slick to start with its got me thinking of using them in my 130i - well cup2's now. What I liked was they were very firm, didn't get flustered on the kerbs. But, even on a 20 deg day they took 3-4 laps to hook up on the rear though the civics struggle to get temp in the rears.

I also run 5w40 in the 130i and Meister r's (std ones). I'm going to give the 130i a few tweaks early next year as it's the track toy now. One of the first is to get some bloody temps on board but I can't figure out how to get oil temp and pressure off the one available port. Any one done this?

Defo not possible off the obd. I am resigned to running aftermarket gauges, using the OEM oil pressure sender port to add a small sender block. Only hiccup seems to be that you need three outlets to get oil temp, pressure, and retain the oem oil pressure sender. I can only seem to find blocks designed for two and aren't quite confident enough to 'knock something up' myself by adding a few together.

Either that or one of those really rare and expensive steering wheels that would do water and oil temp but that won't do pressure either.

My Cobb device does oil temp, Im pretty sure a cheapo Bluetooth OBD and a phone would do it too. However it doesnt show pressure, I dont know if Carly or JB do but I doubt it - its crazy on a car like this

I drive with oil temp showing on the Cobb when on track, its also handy if it throws an error code as you can clear them on the fly :)
