A quick way to find VIN from registration no.

Anyone find a new online service to get the VIN from the registration number?

Despite a few hours of searching, I wasn't able to find anything. Some paid ones give the last 7, but since those aren't unique anymore can't be used to find spec.

Shame, really. It made car buying a lot easier.

This is a bit technical but if its a BMW just use the service booking page https://www.bmw.co.uk/en/topics/owners/ ... oking.html

Open your browser inspector and look at the network tab - you want to look at the response to the call to /services, you'll see the full VIN listed in there. Been doing it this way for years

Can you post a screenshot of this method, every time I try this the 'network' tab is blank , I think I'm either doing it wrong or looking in the wrong place

have the network tab open before you submit the forum, as it needs to catch the outgoing request. Make sure 'record network log' is on

I was doing the search then opening the network tab

Now I just need to wait for the decoder to be back online
