Swapping ES model non MF steering wheel with MFSW?????

Post by BeemerBoi » Tue Nov 01, 2011 4:49 pm

hi i got a '08' 118d ES e87 , I'm sure this has been asked a million times, can i replace my boring ES model blank steering wheel with Multi Functional steering wheel?? i just want the buttons to work with my Business CD Head unit and i don't want to fit Cruise control or anything like. just a simple swap with my blank steering wheel with MF steering Wheel.

i done my research but im not getting a straight forward answer and im just confused if this is even possible?

so can anyone please help me with this ??

i took the airbag off the steering wheel and took some pictures of what it looks like.

First of all this is my steering wheel

I hope these pictures helped to get an idea of what it looks like..

so is it possible to swap my non MF steering Wheel with MF Steering Wheel?

Thanks

Yes, it's possible.

You'll need the slip rings from a car with a similar car to your own, the MFS wheel and the MFS airbag.

Or you could add the performance wheel? http://www.babybmw.net/howtos/how_to_in ... gWheel.pdf

It will need re-coding too.

Not 100% on the slip rings, someone will be able to help.

Think 'Rob-the-Viking' did his, maybe drop him a PM?

IIRC you will need to replace your slip ring with one that has the connections for a MFSW and you will need some coding.

Rob The Viking did this and also a how-to on this subject.
