Do I need USB/AUX too? Are there benefits to having it?

Edit: beat me to link!
If you want to be able to plug an ipod/iphone/usb into the armrest then its worth getting it. To be honest, its only a socket & cable, so fitting it is no big deal. Patryk, who runs bimmer-tech can supply those bits if you want them.

I used him for my combox retrofit before I learned how to code, now I would just do it myself & save a load of money in the process.

There are 2 versions of the Combox - Telematik & Media - if you are retrofitting, the media is the one to go for. I lost my SOS button when I fitted the combox, but to be honest its no big deal as I carry a mobile phone.

Personally I would get the kit from Patryk, he will make your life a lot easier.

I don't think its worth doing for £600 whereas £300 I'm tempted

Guessing I must have telematics if phone already works?

Looking at his prices it's not £600, he want's 499 Euros, which is approx £480. The usb & socket will probably be another £100 new.

Do you have a TCU as well as a MULF? The Telematics function is basically BMW assist, so if you get stranded you push a button that is in the headlining & the car rings BMW & the come to the rescue.

Retrofitting a telematics combox may not work, I would stick with the Media version.

Then you'll need a TCU/MULF to Combox conversion loom

Peter van der veer - BMW mini specialist - he can fit this.

I can do it for you too but I don't really have the time spare at the moment.
