Whatever you get out, replace. It's very hard to get much more than 900ml out with no drain though.
I managed to get around 800/850ml of the old stuff out. It would have been easier with a drain plug on the bottom of the diff.

Sure would.

I did mine again last Tuesday, 30k since the last change. The Dimple magnetic plug is really earning its keep, it was caked in incredibly fine ferrous silt, and the old oil was still a nice golden colour.

Changed the oil anyway, but I'd be reasonably comfortable leaving it 50k until the next diff oil service.

Did the 130i diff recently, also managed to get 900ml of oil out. The oil had done about 80k miles and was still a nice golden syrup colour - as expected it was much cleaner than what came out after the first 70k miles.

Just stumbled across this thread, ordered some diff oil for my Drexler m performance lsd for my M140i

Do you know if the M140i lsd is the same as your m135i? Will get a magnetic plug ordered if so

The Auto Diff is different, it's probably the same plug though, check part numbers on Realoem.

This is all I can find on realoem for the M140i but I’m unsure how to get the parts diagram for the mperformance lsd

Going off that diagram it’s the same size plug yes?

Might be slight of topic but related to the M performance lsd. Is it possible to identify the M performance lsd in any way?

My belief is that the housing is same as standard and part no sticker is hidden away on top.

I can get a picture for you later if you like? Got my standard diff in a box in the garage and lsd obviously fitted on the car

So these are the only codes I can see on the two diffs. The Lsd is the dirty one the standard open diff is brand new

Thats strange, I have same number on both of mine, seems to be lsd number of yours.

In my pics open diff is dirty and the cleaner one is M performance lsd. Ive an m135i, you got the m140i right, might have been updated unlike the lsd thats older?

Is it possible to see any of the internals when removing plug and changing oil or how could it be verified?

Have you owned the car from new? When I changed mine at 17k miles it was like black water. I wonder if yours has already had a change?
