Heater fan not working

Post by whodareswins1 » Fri Sep 14, 2018 3:17 pm

I took my heater fan out to investigate an issue where at higher speeds it makes the dash vibrate a fair amount. It's quite noisy. Turns it the likely culprit was a snail shell inside.

I've replaced it all back but now the fan doesn't appear to turn on. I've tried unplugging it and plugging back in. Sounds like a small hum near the motor when it is plugged in. Any idea what could be the issue?

Update...

I had the fan plugged in but not bolted in and it worked perfectly. Tried different fan speeds too and it worked fine. It's when I bolt it back in to place, it doesn't appear to function.

What am I doing wrong?

Are you stressing it when you bolt it down? IE, physically warping it's shape with the wrong blower position, or incorrect bolts/torques?

Hmm. I have tightened them up fair bit. Do they not need to be too tight?

They need to be exactly the same as they were before.

Thought so. It turned it wasn't quite seated correctly. It looked and felt fine but as I loosened the bolts a bit it seated properly and all is now well. Thanks for the help
