Hole in the intake?

Post by RobMorris » Thu Sep 20, 2018 1:25 pm

Hi

I have a 2008 123d and was planning to replace the glow plugs.

But as I removed the panels I found a hole in the intake? There was also quite a lot of oil in the area assuming being blasted from said hole?

Its almost as if something has blasted/eaten its way out? Its around 1cm in diameter.

Any ideas how it could have happened or how to fix it (Bodge it) without replacing the whole intake?

Thanks

Burnt hole in the manifold? Check for a leaky EGR cooler - internal loss of coolant inside the cooler causes coolant crust to build up upstream in the intake manifold. The crust then catches fire from hot EGR gas.

It's happening especially in the B engines.
