Today's enthralling job....

Often overlooked and pain-in-the arse job but definitely worthwhile if you've time, this mild spell and rain has thankfully washed the salt and grime off the roads. It was pretty horrendous round here, the roads were actually white and the car was caked in it. Time for a arch decon wheel-off wash, gives you chance to give the wheels a proper clean and inspect the tyres too. Hardest job was removing the rear wheels seeing as the tyre fitting clowns had seemingly torqued the bolts to eleventy million ft/lbs, 14 stone on end of a 2' crack bar and they wouldn't budge .....

Found this little nasty on my Birds/billy rear o/s damper which I'm not particularly happy about....

In all my years of driving. The most I've done is poked a hose under the arches to blast out mud from the odd bit of off roading.
Nice to see it all looking new in the arches though.

As for that damper... How old is that? Guessing a stones chipped the paint off, the fabia vrs damper body's didn't even look like that after 160k of hard miles.

Thanks Yes it's disappointing, they are almost 3 years old, fitted beginning of March 18. Must've taken a knock at some point like you say, either a stone or from tools when being installed/alignment adjustments.

What are you thinking to do about the damper? Could you wire brush it down and give it a lick of paint?

Thanks Yes thats what I'm now thinking. Rotary wire brush on end of drill to clean it up and paint, hopefully it's just surface rust.

It’s a bit of a pants job. I usually do it as part of the post winter detail.
