Engine Bay Tidy Up

Post by Rubix_Cube » Sun Oct 14, 2018 9:16 am

Hey folks, just got my E82 135i and can't wait for a good day to give it a proper clean. The previous owner had it " cleaned" before I collected it but the scuttle panels, door shuts, boot shuts and engine bay are a mess. I will be giving it a full once over but I would like some solid advice on how to clean and restore the engine bay? I will try and get a picture to horrify you later but for now just imagine a 73,000 mile car that no one has even cleaned the engine bay...

Not too much water. It will take a light spritz, but people on here have broken their cars in the past with high power jet washes and steam cleaners.

I'd go with a nice big paintbrush and some APC, wipe off with a damp cloth.

Yeah I have massive fear for jet washing an engine bay... You tube vids show people doing it but I'm like "

Any recommendations of an all purpose cleaner?

I'd recommend Built Hamber Surfex HD

I'm currently using Valet Pro Citrus, but I'd give Gtechniq - W2 a go, or the Bilt Hamber suggested above.
